Greetings,
Send rain.
I have HDTV, DirecTV, and the network feeds out of New York and LA.
(If you don't have HD on the NYC/LA feeds, disregard this message.)
On May 1, my HD service was suspended by some new regulation that requires me, once again, to request a waiver from my local (Jacksonville, FL) stations to receive the HD signal from the national feeds. I have asked for that waiver (through DirecTV) but DirecTV screwed it up and failed to annotate on the request that this was for a motor home and not for my home address. The local affiliates denied my waiver request accordingly. I had to start all over.
This only applies to ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC. Other (cable) stations still provide the HD signal on programs so configured.
I stumbled across this (May 1) development by accident. There was no notification by DirecTV - just a cutoff of service.
You might check your NYC and LA feeds (channels 81, 82, etc.) that carry the HD to make sure you are not cut off also.
If you are still receiving your HD signal from NYC/LA, I'd like to hear about it so I can raise the roof with DirecTV.
Now, if that dumb little flying saucer on-air TV antenna installed on my coach only worked....

Jay,
I would say don't raise the roof with DirecTV (its not their fault) just play the game they have given you.
Your local affilicates will always just rubber stamp your waiver request with a "denial". They need you buying local products and services.
I am becoming a fulltimer (for a short time period) to make my motorhome my only service.
DirecTV will send you forms to fill that proves to them that you have a motorhome and you live in. It takes 10 days to get the forms, I am still waiting.
I would also say, forget requesting any local service from Directv. For local HD service at your house, a small roof top HD antenna saves you money, and works great with "line of sight". One thing about Florida, with an antenna near the top of your house the whole state becomes "line of sight". My HD samsung box has a local signal pick-up and treats it like any other signal.
I know this is a bit of a nuisance, but if you want the east/west feed, I see no other way.
Maybe, someone else has a better way, but this is what I'm doing here in Las Vegas.
Best of luck,
Jim
