Gosh here comes that itch again. I have a 2003 Allure 36. I am looking a new 2006 40 Intrigue 530. I thought I wanted the tag axile but I see it takes up one storgage bay. Also i noticed the interior storgae seemed limited. My questions for those who have this unit, first are you happy? Does the toilet work differently than the Allure. That is , is there a vacuum to help flush and control ordor?
I think the Cat. 13 sounds great, but I have been seeing all these temp. issues, any issue with the Intrigue?
I am at McMahon's and there are adding more service, and promising to improve on the past. Any body have recent experience?
In general any advice?

Can't comment on anything but the C13. Its a good motor, we've been getting around 8.5mpg pushing 46000 gross with the toad. The engine cooling issues were solved early in 2005. You might ask CC about the tranny cooling.
We thought about an '06 but they deleted the Ovation floor plan for one with more slideout but less kitchen. The Ovation floor plan is what made the CC acceptable to wife. We only looked at 42' so can't comment on the tag axle issue.

We are considering a new Intrigue, also. We currently have a 38' Intrigue that we traded a 36' Intrigue for just to get the tag axle.
Please, please go drive a tag if you haven't. The stability is miles ahead of the single rear axle, to say nothing of the extra load capacity, more driver assurance of stability if you have a flat and the extra braking of the tag. If you have ever dreaded driving on
2-lane roads with your single axle, you will look for them with the
tag. I know you loose storage, but the trade-off is well worth it.
As regards the Cat....most all of us males want more hp to go up hills faster, (it only takes so much hp to go flat and level) but $39k upgrade for it ('07's) is a pretty hefty hit for 400 ft-lb extra torgue. I think the 400 Cummins does just fine, gets good fuel mileage and weighs less. (We pull a 7,000lb enclosed trailer with car and have no problems.)

We have an 05 Intrigue with tag axle and love it. Had an SOB without and find the tag is a HUGE improvement in handling. Miss the storage a bit, but feel the tag was well worth it.

I took my first test drive on a 40' Intrigue with 4 slides. As you said the ride was great. But, the slide rattle was almost so loud we could not speak, the front drivers mirror would not operate, and the trans. temp. got to 250 and would not fall back when in idle. Of all of it the trans. temp. was most alarming. Both eng. and trans ran hot with the explanation being the sensors were in the wrong spot. Very weak to say the least. Ride great, the remainder not so great, we are not buying the Intrigue.
We also took out the Allure 40 with the cummings 400. Same thing temp ran real high and would not come down during idle, all else seemed to be OK.
The C-13 is very hard to walk away from.
