I have a 2005 Inspire #51362. I would like to install a chrome extention to the exhaust pipe to replace the rusted/black extention that came with the coach new. CC has a straight chrome extention they want $170.00 for. Does anyone know if there is a generic chrome extention that would work that would slide onto the existing pipe and not extend way beyond the side of the coach, Everything that I have checked they say will not work, and I will have to use CC's extention.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Butch,
Consider stainless steel - measure the size ID and OD, Try googling it, I used "stainless steel 5 inch pipe sale" and got the following for your consideration:

Tell them what you are looking for - many we help to direct you to a source for a short piece of pipe.

I once saw a extension at Camping World, they are hard to find and CC's price of 170 is not bad.
Thank you,

Butch,
I found my exhaust extention at www.pplmotorhomes.com or call 1-800- 755-4775. I purchased the 5" diameter extension that was approximately 12" long. Twelve inches is too long, so I took it to a machine shop and had it reduced to 6". Installed it myself.
Extension from PPL was $50. Machine shop charged $20. Extension is chromed stainless steel. Hope this helps.

I got my stainless steel extension from CC. Looks great. I use GoJo Orange hand cleaner to clean it when I wash the coach.

We got our local muffler shop to make us a customized stainless steel extension to our exhaust pipe. Cost $50 and it's great!

I have a 2001 Intrigue. I purchased my exhaust extension from Stanley Manufacturing in Junction City. In fact he came out to the Class Reunion and installed it. I also did the generator exhaust and the Hurricane exhaust.

We lost our exhaust extension. I ordered a new one that is 5" diameter. Is it supposed to slide into the exhaust pipe? That pipe is 5" in diameter as well. I don't get it. :)
Also, how far out from the coach should it stick out max? It is a turn down one. And should I have the new chrome extension shortened or the exhaust pipe shortened?
And thirdly, how do I find a "machine shop" to shorten it? What is that under in the yellow pages? Thanks.

Here is the long and the short of it. There are shops that specialize in heavy duty truck exhaust. Not anything difficult as I read your text. They have machines that increase or decrease that 5 inch in diameter pipe.

It's most probable that your 5" extension is designed to fit over a 5" pipe, regardless of inner or outer diameters. And shortening either the pipe or extension should be fairly easy with a hacksaw.

I didn't see where you mentioned if you are CAT or Cummins powered.
I recently replaced the OEM exhaust tip (ugly pot metal) with a chrome/stainless tip that I bought from CC. Getting the old one out was a booger. But the exhaust pipe is flared and notched to accept the new stainless tip.
The tip I bought was too long. Forget using a hacksaw, unless you are 18 years old and have lots of time on your hands. Take it to a muffler shop and let them cut it for you with their carbide cutting wheel. About 45 seconds worth. They didn't even charge me.
Does your exhaust tip protrude from the rear or side? If from the side, I would think a turn down tip would have to extend far too much, creating a "collision" hazard. Mine is the rolled tip, and protrudes about 1.5 inches from the (fiberglass) opening. It looks much better than the original. Plus I can drive much faster and I get better gas mileage. Cured my restless leg syndrome too.

Cummins 400 ISL. It protrudes from the side. The old one was pretty much flush with the side of the coach. Ok to the 1.5 inches. Thanks Jay.
