Title: New CC Coaches
Post by: Gene Clendenin on July 06, 2006, 01:33:54 pm
Yahoo Message Number: 23658 (http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Country-Coach-Owners/conversations/messages/23658)Does anyone have any information on the two new coaches that will be displayed at the Charleston, SC rally in August. I have seen the names, but have no idea what the price points are, but heard one may be targeted at the Newell owners.

I can't remember the names of the coaches, but one is being priced below the Inspire (~$250K MSRP) and the other is priced above the Affinity (way many $).

The Raphsody will start a around 1 mil $ and up. It is a fiberglass coach with the inside being like a Prevost...so it is priced between an Affinity at $750 and a Prevost at 1.2 mil. I understand that CC has orders for 8 or so on the Raphsody and they do not even have the first one off the line! Send us pictures if you buy one!!!!

Yahoo Message Number: 23663 (http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Country-Coach-Owners/conversations/messages/23663)We saw the outside of the Rhapsody in production at the CC rally on factory day. Big and Tall....13'6" and 45'. I'm sure it will be beautiful! It is being made to compete with the Newell. It will have a steerable tag and every high tech gadget possible. I'm afraid I'm going to have to keep my Allure.

Yahoo Message Number: 23664 (http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Country-Coach-Owners/conversations/messages/23664)Just what they need ... a more complicated coach. I wonder if they put any money into plans to build the ones they make now correctly. I would not want one of the first ones of these, unless I lived close to a big CC dealer ... wait ... I do ... 30 miles from LD.
This move does little to renew my faith in CC, they have more than enough models now. The company must be run by the marketing dept. With all the troubs with Inspires, they are making a cheaper one ??? I don't get it.
We were thinking of trading up from our 2005 Affinity, but I guess we will wait until we see how this new twist turns out.

What are "all the troubs with Inspires " to which you refer? Over the past 2 years I've read just as many posts bemoaning Affinity problems as Inspire problems. Do you have some specifics you can list? I'd like to know if there are items I need to look into on my Inspire. By the way, do you realize that the wording of your post could be interpreted as extremely snobish and elitist? Tony Ferrara

Yahoo Message Number: 23678 (http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Country-Coach-Owners/conversations/messages/23678)Snobbish is in the ear of the beholder ... just recounting my recollection of the facts as I see them ... lighten up.
I doubt you really counted posts ... you just are defensive. This is not necessary. I am not speaking from a position of superiority ... I have a $650,000 coach that is not really that well designed and built, so what are you whining about. I have never understood CC's venture into lower cost coaches. I had a Journey and a Dutch Star and loved them both. Never had the DS back for service once.
I have had my Affinity back to LD way too many times for my liking, so I am speaking from a peer position. If they can't get a $650,000 coach right, why are they trying to introduce another low end coach. Leave that to the people that think quantity, and super efficiency in design and manufacture. I think companies should stick to what they do best ... CC is trying to be all things to all people ... bad move in my opinion.
If you love your Inspire good for you, lots of people do I suspect. We often wish we had our DS back, but we love the Affinity also, despite the real heartaches it has cost us. I stand by my statement ... CC is run by marketing people that don't understand where CC came from and where it is meant to be. They should concentrate on making high end coaches that are flawless and wonderful ... not try and compete with Newmar, etc.
I don't suppose you will understand any of this, but that's ok.

Yahoo Message Number: 23682 (http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Country-Coach-Owners/conversations/messages/23682)I saw the new prototype test "tribute at the factory. It had just returned from test track evaluation in Arizona. List price about $250,000. Also saw the new Rhapsody in the Magna Affinity shop. They had just installed all the slides, but hadn't been adjusted. It will be built at the Magna plant and painted there. It will be outfitted inside over at the Prevost plant. They are aiming at the customer looking to buy a year or two old Prevost or New NEWELL. It will have four roof air. Phantom slides like newell. The biggest front and tag tires you ever saw. The rear tag is steerable, but don't remember if its hydraulic or electric. It will have the C-15 CAT with Cats new Tranny, but am not sure if it will start as 1850 ftlbs of torquw with 6 speeds or 2025 lbs of torque with 8 speeds. TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731

In the last 5 weeks I was looiking to trade my 03 Allure for an Intrigue or another newer Allure. Out of the 5 to 6 coachs I drove 4 of them had major defects, and non functioning gear. No way to test drive, and you can ask GM about that! Funny I like the 36' dual axial best, but the price was 30K higher that the same 40' Allure with almost indentical equipment. Go figure.
Thank you,

Yahoo Message Number: 23686 (http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Country-Coach-Owners/conversations/messages/23686)I just went through the plant tour last week and they just fired up the new (second prototype) build of the Rhapsody, I think I saw the new 650hp Cummins in this one, they had decided that it was shoehorned in just a little tight and would have to widen both the chassis an the inside of the engine bay (a lot of work to do according to the lead engineer I talked to)

Yahoo Message Number: 23688 (http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Country-Coach-Owners/conversations/messages/23688)We are aware of his condition, altho' my supposition is his mind is doing cartwheels around his body and he'd like to be back in control. We saw him while at camp CC having work done and he was making it look like he was just fine. He was out of town on some type of supportive tour for a cause during the home coming rally, so he wasn't there. So he's still quite active, but we all know that eventually it will catch up to him. He looked good when we saw him in April. Hope he can stay going strong for a long time until the crud catches up to him.

No matter how sophisticated the product, if sales and marketing are unable to move it, everyone loses. I have been in the building business for over forty years and the main goal is to produce a quality product that the sales and marketing people can persuade the public to purchase. I agree that CC has always been known as a "high end" manufacturer but economic conditions are surely fueling the move to include less expensive models in the line.

Yahoo Message Number: 23691 (http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Country-Coach-Owners/conversations/messages/23691)I agree, I was in the sales and marketing department of our dairy business.....but if the product isn't engineered properly in the first place.....well you are seeing the result. I met a fellow at an FMCA rally in Indio, Cal last year. He invited me to see his coach and see if I could find a major design flaw. Well it was a major SNAFU. In order to change air filter it required eight hours labor at the Cat dealer. That is what I mean by sales driven....this looks great.......without any thought about whether it will actually work or not. By the was it was an 05 Intrigue. Not sure of the floor plan, but the gentleman lives in Deming, New Mexico. Maybe he will read this. I would find this to be totally unacceptable. Another point....look at the price points in the CC line...If I wanted the new whatever it is I would spend just a little more and buy a real motor home....a Prevost. My thinking is just how much is a motor home worth? It is reall a subjective matter.....I prefer having the cash myself. Personally I am sticking with my old tried and true unit...it does everything it is supposed to do and does it well. Only problems have been minor and CC induced. The Gillig chassis and Cat c12 have been just flawless.

So true on all accounts. I am the proud owner of a 2002 Intrigue and love the coach, Most systems are somewhat accessible and have performed very well. I have several friends who own other brands that are comparable in price but certainly not in quality. Don't know much about the quality of the newer models but most seem to be happy with the coaches. My own personal feeling is that the most important part of being satisfied with coach ownership is the dealer who sold and services your investment.

The big one is the Rhapsody. I saw it in shed ten. It was not finished, painted, etc. It is huge. I cannot remember all of the measurements... something like 45', 102", and perhaps 13'10" high. Do not hold me to the height. They did not want me to take a picture of it. It will cost in the area a million dollars. I was told that it will only be at Charleston if it is 100% ready.
