I'm now looking for a new GPS. Has anyone purchase the new GPS that are RV friendly. Such as giving you better routes because of your length ect ect..

I like the new Garmin dezl 760. I added custom POIs from Microsoft maps and streets which add to my RV life style. Took some time to gather the POI info, but has been worth it. Contact me off line for more help.

We bought the Good Sam GPS a couple of weeks ago. So far it seems like it does what it advertised, but we haven't had a lot of time with it, since our Cat quit 70 miles into our trip. I was impressed that it showed campgrounds in Alaska as well as in the lower 48!

We bought the Rand McNally RVND 5510 when it first came out and are very pleased with it. You input your rig height and weight and it gives warnings. Includes all campgrounds, fuel stops, restaurants, entertainment. They have a new one that has live traffic and wi-fi. I got an FMCA discount.

We have the garmin dezi as well and we love it. We never use the old in dash GPS Country Coach put in there in 2008 as it is totally out of date. Garmins come with free lifetime map updates now. And we also have a less expensive garmin for our toad - and there again we never use the GM NAV unit that came with our 2009 Subirban. We really like that the two are virtually identical in operation - just that the dezi provides routing based on your RV profile.

I have been using the original 5" Rand McNally for a couple of years. My biggest complaint is that the touch screen doesn't react well to touches. Recently, something has happened to it that prevents my computer connecting to it so I can't upgrade the maps. I worked quite some time with RM trying to resolve the problem but no solution was found. So at this point, I have a GPS that I can't get map upgrades.
Prior to this I've had only a few complaints that aren't uncommon with any GPS. None of them are perfect.
I just purchased the Garmin Dezl 760LMT so I am very interested in what the users of this GPS have to say.

We have the RVND 7710 from Rand McNally, and it works great. Campgrounds are included as POIs, including Woodalls rated. It hasn't taken us on a one-way trip to nowhere, yet.

On our Garmin if you press the signal strength bars it takes you to another screen that shows elevation. The unit is about 8 years old but I believe the new ones have the same option. (We have looked at others but have many drawbacks compared to the unit we currently own)

Pleased with our Garmin DEZL 560, but admit the 7" version would have been better for my eyes:)! We use the RV feature when driving, and when in doubt, we cross reference to both Google Maps and our notebook that has a GPS and Microsoft Street & Trips. Last resort, but always available, our different toad atlas's.
We plan trips for general direction and timing estimates via Microsoft Street & Trips. We use the DEZL 560 while driving, and for Bluetooth phone interaction.
One thing I have not yet done, to augment the standard Garmin DEZL's RV profile travel, is load in POI's of low bridge warnings. Found one, and many other nice POI's, on the Discovery Owners Club listings.

Purchased the Garmin Dezl 760 just before we left for Alaska, where we are now, Homer Alaska. It's the best GPS I have used for many reasons. It replaced the 7" Magellan and the Magellan replaced the Rand McNally. The Garmin is a keeper (finally).

It does let you enter Lat/Lon. Been using it exclusivly through Canada and Alaska since addresses are hard to get in these area's. It's been working very well.

It does not have campground info but I really didn't use it on the other GPS's I had. I have an app on my phone, We Camp Here, that works well for us. There may be a data file that can be uploaded into the Garmin but I am not aware of any at this time.
The new Garmin is very fast. I am guessing they must have updated the processor. The display is second to none which is usual for Garmin.

yep - we bought the Dezi last year and wouldn't be without it. The sorry GPS that came as OEM on my 08 Country Coach never even gets turned on. Dezi will save your butt if you even think about turning down some country road that is too winding or narrow and has no turnarounds.

If you have your dezi on and you turn into a road that is too narrow, restricts vehicles your size or height (based on the profile you put into the unit) then it will start dinging and warning you in red. If you are using the Dezi as we do to route ourselves from one location to another, it will very simply AVOID anything where your coach profile is too much. One caveat though... California. That state has some absurd laws... for example nothing over 40' allowed on other than state roads. So if you have 43' on your Dezi profile, then true to its law abiding nature it will rpoute you on all kinds of circuitous streets to get somewhere to minimize non state raod travel. Hence when in California we use both the Dezi and our car garmin... thus we avoid any low bridges or whatever but can take direct routes and ignore many of the spurious size and weight limitations that CA places on some roads. I am not saying I would ignore a 5 ton rating on a wood bridge, but when the Dezi doesn't want me to take your exit off the freeway and turn left to cross over using the freeway overpass to my destination because of "5 ton weight limit" I give Dezi the bird and just do like our Car garmin tells us. I haven't found this BS in any other state.

George, I am not impugning the laws of your state, nor intending to show any disrespect. Next I am in Alabama, I will happily accede to whatever laws apply to my visit. That is my point entirely. Since each of the present 50 states is supposedly organized as a republic, then each citizen of each republic is required to adhere to the laws of that republic in which he is operating, and in such other republics as he may be visiting, insofar as they are not determined to be in conflict with (current) interpretation of the Constitution. I may or may not agree with the recent SCOTUS decisions having to do with the alleged rights of states to determine their interpretation of federal law, but they are what they are.
