Herb, concerning the sound of your engine you might want to check the air compresser. We had the air compressor changed twice, the last time under a Cummins recall, when we had a 2000 Newmar MountainAire.

Hi Bob,
I just noticed you post and thought I would ask your opinion. I have had way too much trouble with my 1999 Mountain Aire and am "shopping". I would not want to spend the $$$ on a Magna, but have looked at the Intrigue. How do you compare the over all quality and service of the CC and Newmar? Your input appreciated.

Jurhee,
I really can't provide any helpful info. We decided to sell our gas rig and go to diesel and we decided on the floor plan and length we wanted. I learned CC had the floorplan and length we wanted. Before I had a chance to look at other brands and fully engage on the "shopping" effort a used (4 month old) CC Intrigue with the exact floorplan and length hit the internet. We saw it and bought it directly from the owners virtually on the spot. I don't do any comparisons or shopping. I can tell you I'm a happy camper.
The people we bought if from were experienced motorhome owners and fulltimers. The did a lot of improvements during their 4 months including a lot of woodwork and cabinets which they told me was a better way to effectively get a Magna for less money. They wanted the more expensive rigs but wanted 36 feet. The modifications were their way of solving the problem, i.e., the more expensive rigs don't come in 36 feeet.

Hi John,
I appreciate the offer. With the problems I have had with my MADP, I could never sell it to an individual so will have to wait out the lawsuit and a settlement from the factory or just give in and trade it in. Have problems thinking about trading it in knowing that eventually somebody will buy it. The situation really has me in a predicament. I cannot travel freely like I want to. I just want to get this nightmare behind me and get on with my life!

Ree,
Damon Rapozo sells both. We were going to buy a Mountain Aire but wound up with an Intrigue from Damon. He looks in on this board. I'm sure he can help you. His direct email is drapozo@... (drapozo@...) but I'd like to see his answer to your question about Mountain Aire compared to CC. Damon is a salesman for both and is very knowledgeable.

Hello Robert & Ree,
This is a difficult question to answer right now since I have not seen the 2003 MADP changes yet but I can tell you what I do know. The MADP compares closest to the Country Coach Allure in MSRP's.
For 2003 the Allure uses hydronic heat standard, full body paint std, and a 350 Cummins ISC std with a 370ISL Cummins optional. The Allure is a slower built unit with a custom built semi - monacoque chassis featuring Neway IFS. The Allure uses an HWH slide mechanism that is built into the coach, this slide out is completly wrapped and finished on the exterior and does not intrude into your roadside basement compartment door area one bit.
The down side is you can only get a roadside galley slide.
The MADP is a quicker built unit and uses your choice of a Frieghtliner or Spartan chassis. I am guessing for 2003 either chassis will have a 400HP ISL Cummins engine. Both chassis have IFS of different brands, Spartan uses Granning, Frieghtliner uses Neway which I prefer. The MADP has a 3 year coach warranty and offers both living room and galley slide outs.
I feel they are both great units but I tend to lean towards Country Coach a bit. Newmar builds the best unit for $200K MSRP (Dutch Star) by far, as you climb the Newmar model ladder the MADP and Allure are almost equals, and in my opinion anything above a MADP (Kountry Aire/London Aire) is where Country Coach shines bright. In comparing the Mountain Aire and Allure it boils down to "personal prefernce" of colors, floorplans, and desired options.
Good Luck,
Damon

Hi Damon,
I saw a 2003 Allure at the FMCA Rally in San Antonio this week. It was gorgeous!
