Absolutely! Our first overheat was 25 minutes into a trip, leaving from home. Our second overheat was about 2-3 hours on the road in Utah.
What unplugging the fan controller does is let the fan run all the time, no on/off which is the problem in that the failures were from the fan not turning on when it should have. I never had such great looking engine temperatures with the control unplugged, even crossing the California desert on the afternoon of the 4th of July. And the CAT men who saved my trip, said that it would not hurt the fan to run all the time. I'm just wishing the engine temp looked like that all the time (below the half way point on the gauge--don't have the coach here to give you the actual numbers). With the fan control working "properly--i.e. engine not shutting down" the gauge reads in the one o'clock position rather than straight up (sorry, don't remember the actual numbers but may have my coach back next week to look at the gauge.) Anyway, it is a quick fix that gets you back on the road. I'm no engineer. I don't even like playing with tools . But it seems to me that the engine needs more air flow as you are going down the road and that even with everything "working properly" it is running hotter than I would like it.

Marge Where can we find the controller. If we loose the unit, and see the temp climbing, without hearing the cooling fan, it is time to unplug, RIGHT ! Thanks Ned Inspire 51677 -

Left (drivers side) rear about two foot in just behind the tire. It is a wire with sort of a click apart connection. As the guys told me, it is the only thing down there with a junction you can undo.
Sure better than a tow truck

One reason to not just leave the fan controller unplugged is fuel economy. That fan can use up to 40 of your 400 horses.
