20 degrees drop from ambient air temp is truly the standard rule of thumb for judging performance to capacity. The auto AC is essentially the same size as your car with a huge difference in cabin size. Color of coach, direct rays of sun thru glass, high outside temps, high humidity, all affect comfort level because they are all in competition to that tiny AC compressor slaving away. Our solution has been to close all drapes not necessary for safe driving vision, start the generator, run the front air, and direct the fans above the windshield toward the front to pull the cool air forward, deflecting it off the windshield and redirecting it back toward the occupants.
If you do not have a 20 degree drop, check for total shut off of hot water to the heater core, air leaks in the frontal area allowing outside air to leak inside, correct amount freon in system,{ an overcharge reduces cooling} loose or worn belt on compressor.

Thanks for the insight, Dave. See my posting re: air leak. The leak is not warm air getting in... it's the cold air getting out.
