Hi All, I wonder if anyone on the website has the Indoor (inside the front windshield) sunscreen that is made by MCD or MotorCoach Designs. They make all of the sunscreens for CC both inside ones and outside sunscreens. I would like not to put the ones up outside for several reasons: 1. the windshield is so high in front that I have to get out a tall ladder for installation and deinstallation. 2. The outdoor screen gets so dirty underneath that when we are parked for awhile I have to take them down, clean the windshield and then put them up again. So, I tend not to put them up when we are only somewhere for a couple of days.
I contacted MCD and they make a sunscreen that goes on the inside of the windshield and drivers window and they hang on a track. But I have been unable to see them either by picture or in person. When I talked with them yesterday, they said they will have a booth in Perry, Ga at the rally. If anyone on this site who is attending the rally could go to the booth, look at them (and possibly post or send me a picture of them: I know that is a lot to ask :-) I would be very appreciative.
Thanks in advance for any input, help or pics, The Hollicks 07 Affinity #6767

Hi Jack, yes we got the pictures and I wrote back to you a week or two ago. Your coach is beautiful and I am sure you enjoyed working with all the folks at The Paint Department. Are you at the east coast rally? The Hollicks

We have inside screens that are attached to the front windshield rubber trim with High-Temp Acrylic Velcro. The screens also have a second insulated silver backing to reflect 100% of the light and heat if we want to do that. The silver liner can also be used by itself.
We really love the inside screens and would never go back to the outside ones. I bought most of the materials from Dimit Sun Screens and made them myself.

Sorry, I must have lost the reply. No we did not get the coach back in time for east coast rally. We do have our reservations in for the one in Albany in July. We try to make that one as much as possible as my son lives in Corvallis. We get to kill two birds with one stone.
See you down the road

I bought my High-Temp Acrylic Velcro from www.hookandloop.com. It is a superior product that has incredible holding power to the rubber gasket surrounding the windshield (or to glass if you choose to mount it that way) after the 24 hours adhesive curing time. The generic brand adhesive hook and loop (including the stuff sold by Dimit) will not adhere to the rubber gasket and even do a poor job adhering to glass -- I'll never make that mistake again! The stuff literally fell off the windshield and I found it laying on the dash the next day! If you have a job requiring the best possible adhesion, use only Velcro brand and only the type with the Acrylic based adhesive.
The rubber based adhesive hook and loop is worthless IMHO.
Dimit has a good quality screen and nice design with the dual layer screen and silver backer, but their generic hook and loop is worthless. That is why I ended up making my own using all Velcro brand hook and loop with the screening supplied by Dimit. There are also many other companies that will sell you the screening in a hundred different colors and density to suit your needs, so I'm NOT endorsing Dimit... quite to the contrary, they cost me a lot of money experimenting with different products before I found the right answer for me. I would have expected them to recommend the best possible quality so that they would have a happy satisfied customer and spraed good news about their products, but that is not what happened.
Another design mistake that Dimit makes is that they put the hook portion on the screen door to attach the sunshade. Every time we would enter and exit the coach, the hook would snag our clothes! Now, with my redesigned screens, I have the loop side stuck to the screen door and we never have a problem with snags on our clothes!
So the bottom line is -- use only Velcro brand with the Acrylic based adhesive for high-temp or difficult applications demanding the best possible adhesion.

HI Bob,
Thanks for the info on the Velcro and sun screens. We have the MCD ones outside which have worked well, but do get dirty. We also bought some inside ones that adhere with suction cups. It isn't as heavy of a weave, but works when we need the sun screen and only going to be at a place for a short while. Beats getting out the ladder for just a few days. I can't say I'm thrilled with the inside ones.
If you were to make it yourself, what name would you use to do an internet search under? Sunscreens brings up all sorts of stuff, but don't see what you're talking about. I have not seen the type you are talking about with the dual layers.
Because of heat build up between the screen and glass, do you think the dual layered inside screens would cause a problem with too much heat? I did a search for Dimit and a site came up, but when I put in info for the screens neither their web site nor email link would work.
Any help you can give would be appreciated.
Thanks
Sue

Hi Bob and thanks for the information. You said you made them your self...was it very hard to do? What did it cost approx for the materials (I just wondered compared to buying ready made). :astly, can you post pictures of what you made and how they look when they are up in the coach, please? Thanks, The Hollicks

If I could find this type of material, it shouldn't be too hard to make your own. I've sewed velcro onto sun screening to make my own for the entry door and other windows. The trick is to have sticky velcro for the window frame/glass etc. and sew on for the material.

Dale,
I did not realize it but MCD is right over here beside us. I called them, and they had very little pictures of the shades. Even though these pics are not great, its all they had of them. I had them send me the one's that were not on the web page. I posted them in the file forum under a folder MCD Shades. Hope this helps you guys out.

John,
I took your photos in the File section, converted them from BMP (not a very web friendly format) to JPG images (reducing the size from 15.50 MB down to less than 250 KB, and posted them in a "MCD Shade" photo album in the Photo section. The URL is:
http://autos.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/Country-Coach- (http://autos.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/Country-Coach-) Owners/photos/browse/16a8
Or simple go to the photo section and look for MCD Shades. (I also deleted the MCD Shades files to free up space for future uploads.)
If you would like me to add captions, please send them to me.
