We have an 05 inspire 36' 4 slide and it has Carefree Eclipse awnings on all four corners. The wind from the south coming up from Texas thru Ok, Mo, Nb, Iowa was over 35 knots nice for mileage but! I was passed by a semi on I29 and the wind was so strong that it snapped the clips open and the front slide awning opened at 55 mph. The black pull down strap got tangled in the roller and would not close. I had to get up and cut the strap to untangle it and got it to close. Has anyone had issues or made a better fastner to keep it from opening when it should not?

I also learned that I can run 53 mph in 6th at about 1425 rpm and get over 8.8 mpg with a strong tail wind.

we had some flapping of our slide awnings on I-10 at Anthony back in late Feb. The wind would cause the awning to slightly unroll and the snap back. The awning was "nailed in"...meaning the locks were still in place. I've been told the awning should have 28 turns of pressure to keep them adequately in place. We're headed to the Kerrville CCT Rally in May and I'm going to ask CC to adjust both awnings properly. The flapping scared all of us, including my 4 greyhounds...they were ducking under what ever they could find.

Along with other issues, that's why I went back to the old tried and true zip dee awnings. No problems since. TWI 2004 Intrigue.

Thanks for the information, I am leaving to come home during that time. I am staying a Guadalupe, have you stayed there?

Jim,

If you mean, Guadalupe National Park, yes, we stayed there a couple of nights last October. Scenery there is beautiful, did a couple of say hikes and a day at Carlsbad Caverns.

Guadalupe has kind of inconvenient generator hours, 0800 to 2000.
For folks who like to get up long before 0800, turn on the heat (it was quite cold there in the AM), shower, and use the microwave, many just ignored the rules. I talked to the folks in the visitors center about a more reasonable window for generator use, but I don't think they understood. Other National Parks we have been in allow generators from 0700 to 2200, which is a lot more user friendly.
