To the group....Don:

The last time I was at the Cummins shop in Baltimore I brought up the issue of the famous "oil pressure switch" The one that controls the combining of the batteries for charging purposes. We examined the schematics and it was determined that it was not a Cummins phenominon. The oil pressure switch that is connected to the ECM is different. I was concerned about installing that LED indicator and any negative impact it might have on the ECM and now understand there is no problem. I am waiting for information as to the location (physical Location) of the switch. My Cummins guy says it is a Country Coach thing.

Hi Jim,

You are right to look at the schematics first before user group discussions start.

It might be best at this point to discuss nomenclature:

oil pressure switch - one source used to connect the chassis and house batteries together for charging from the alternator.

oil pressure sender(variable resistor) - used to display oil pressure on the dash gauge and not to the cummins ecm. ref schematic #S0699.09 Fred Kovol
