Hi CC Owners,
Our satellite receiver died in our living area, we have cable available, have hooked it up to the outside connection. Changed to box from antenna to cable, but cannot get the TV to show channels, have changed to input but cannot find the one that would be cable, any ideas?
Thank you,
Marta

Marta,
An ohm meter or tone generator would be the best way.

Thank you, Joe.
We did lots of troubleshooting and it appears that the front TV is not hooked up to the antenna or the cable - looks like it's off to Lazydays
Best regards,
Marta

Marta,
I do not know what TV you have, with mine a Sharp LCD if I select the coach antenna, or cable, (I do not have a cable box as the channel selector), I have to go into the start up menu on the TV and select cable and let it do a search of available channels. Then I can get cable.

I called DIRECTV today to ask that they suspend the service in my RV as I putting the coach in storage after using it the last nine days.
I was informed by the agent I spoke with of two new policy changes that may affect many of you using DIRECTV in your coach:
1. You will now only be allowed two suspensions of service in any one year (changed from unlimited suspensions before).
2. You can only suspend service for up to six months at a time now
(changed from up to nine months).
This will have a big impact on my decision to continue service from DIRECTV as we use our coach perhaps a week or so at a time, perhaps every other month, with one long, maybe 5-6 week trip, in the summer. Not being able to have unlimited suspensions means that either you pay for the service while the coach is in storage or you choose to not even turn it on sometimes.
When I pointed out that I had not received any notice of these policy changes, the agent was quite apologetic (as I am sure she was trained to be) but stated that this was the new policy.
Has anyone else heard of this change of policy? Harry

Did you happen to ask them if there is any charge for a new account? If no or minimal charge, simply close your account and open a new one when you need it again.

I am guessing since I do not know what year coach or what kind of tv you have. Assuming ou have the cable connected and selector box set correctly, make sure you have the external antenna preamp off. Make sure your tv is set to receive cable and then do an autoscan for channels.

I did not ask that question. But I am going to write their director of marketing and register a big complaint about the new policy. I agree that there may be some, though I would think minimal, cost for turning the service on and off. Perhaps a reasonable service charge would suffice instead of the new policy of just 2 suspensions in a year. If they stick to this policy I will probably cancel my service altogether as it would make no sense to me to have it. We aren't big watchers of TV anyway and this policy would just about convince me that it isn't worth the cost. And after two attempts to have them send me the paperwork for being able to receive local stations, they still haven't done it. I am not a big fan of DIRECTV.

It seems they keep changing policies based on, I guess, the best way to make money - nothing else makes sense.
Our TiVo is dieing - flickering picture eventually goes to shutting down and then powering up - they sent me a replacement unit for the cost of shipping = $19.95. It's not a TiVo but a DTV DVR with a much less user friendly interface.
I asked about current policy for the DNR and RV's and it was confirmed that they will now permit an RV dedicated receiver set to receive DNR and home units can have local stations - this is a change from the policy that if you had DNR you could not have local stations which was a change from previous policies that it would take an act of the heavenly to get DNR in your RV under any circumstances. I believe the networks are the source of at least some of these shenanigans.
As they make great offers to "new" customers that they don't to current customers it might make sense to cancel your account for a while and become a new customer later.
Does anyone know how long you would need to be without DTV to qualify as a new customer?

I have an 06 Inspire with a strange electrical problem. Might be part of your issue with your TV shutting down. Normal voltage with shore power and gen. Inverter only normal voltage( 118 to 120 volts, TV works fine), but with the coach running down the road and using the inverter for the TV, we get same problem you have with your TV. Voltage, then, is as low as 107 volts. The TV doesn't like it and it's power relay kicks in and out.

It's the recorder that's shutting down and, currently, is located in the home base. Thanks for the thought - sounds like your inverter may be underperforming. Ours had the battery charging portion quit and was replaced. We don't use the in-motion capability much but have had no problem - yet.

My front tv has several inputs. The antenna/cable is on the basic tv input. The directv is on "input 1". If your tv is like this, it should have an input button on the remote. A little box comes up on the tv showing the various inputs.

Thanks everyone, we are able to get the cable and air channels set up and working on the bay tv and the bedroom tv, just the living room tv will not work with the cable or antenna - we suspect it is not hooked up. (The living room and bedroom tv's are same brand so we are sure we are setting them up correctly).
The good news is the air is crisp and clear here in the NC mountains so it is a pleasure to be outside!
