We are towing a 2007 Odyssey Van Touring Edition. When we leave the key on after as few as 3 or 4 hours while towing, the battery level is so low it will not start. Sometimes when the battery is dead, you cannot shift it from park. This requires a jump start. Does any one have experience with this condition and what are you doing?
Email me directly to JBorsetti@... (JBorsetti@...) or call 978-764-1121. Thanks.

If you have a supplemental brake system runs off the toad battery (vice coach battery) to operate, this could be the problem.

There is a great charging system online that will trickle charge the battery off of the coach. We installed it last year and WAZZZAMM no more dead batteries on our Accura.

My van has the same issue - sort of - when the key is in the ignition, the interior door lights will not turn off, check yours to see that they are not staying on and draining the battery. Mine is also a 2007 model, and I am planning to tow it as well and am wondering if you are doing anything to lube the transmission on the van?

On my Saturn Vue tow vehicle with Honda engine/tranny, among other things, you pull a fuse which cuts off current flow to the on-board computers etc. I got a copy of the Honda towing directions from the Blue Ox dealer that installed the tow brackets to the Vue. These directions are much better than what I got from the Saturn Dealer. I have never had a problem, but I have never tried to go more than 4 hours without stopping, reinstalling the fuse, starting it up and repeating the outlined procedure.

Your interior lights should not be on when the ignition key is in the ignition unless a door or liftgate is open. Make sure the key is not on. I have an 06 Odyssey I have pulled it for 15,000 miles over the last two years and the battery has never gone down. I don't pull any fuses and pull it up to 10 hours a day. The only thing I do is during the middle of the day, usually at lunch, I go out and start it up and let it run about 20 minutes or so while I eat lunch, etc. I also at that time go through the transmission drive to neutral routine. Always make sure everything is off. It is easy to leave some electric gizmo on. Also, make sure the vents are in the closed position. Won't help the battery, but will keep the diesel fumes out of your nice toad. The Odyssey is a fantastic toad. It is my garage. I carry three very expensive bicycles in it. My wife won't let me put them in our coach bedroom.

I just put a knife blade switch on the battery and turn everything off.( except the M&G brake disconnect relay and solenoid. Just have to remember activation code on the radio. 04 Odessey with 85,000 total miles.
