Hello,

I want to replace my Dometic refer. Looking at the installation manual, the dimensions are too large to fit through the front door which is just under 24" wide. I am not sure but it looks as though I might be able to remove the refer doors and get the depth down to 24 1/8". It may be possible to remove more stuff from the refer but the manual is not letting on.

What is the standard procedure? Does CC normally remove the front door or pieces of the front door to do this job? ...remove drivers window??? ....saw up the refer into pieces?

I have a buyer interested in my old refer so I want to do this carefully.

Thanks in advance,
Tim

Never done it, but I would imagine that removing the passenger's windshield might be the best egress. It would be a straight shot compared to the driver's side window. And, I wonder about the steering wheel? Good luck!

Tim,

When CC did ours back in 2000, they took out the passenger's windshield. Changed the colored stipe across the top, when replaced.

Hi Tim,

My refer has been out twice and it does come thru a small door however it must be disassembled. i.e. doors off, absorption coil removed, water line for ice maker disconnected, and the lugs for the doors removed.
Can't think of anything else but it has to be pretty well stripped. Good Luck
