CC did not use Hydro Hot heat exchangers on my Allure. They are off brand, single speed units. For the first time in over one year we are in an area where the nights are very cold and have had to use the heating system extensively. The unit in front of the passenger seat must have worn out the bearings in this short time as it rattles and thumps so hard that the coach vibrates, and the unit under the galley roars like a 1949 Hoover vacuum. What have others experienced? Any suggestions?

I have gone thru this with my coach, mine is a 04 Allure. My heat exchangers are 24 volt motors run by 12 , the reason is they run quieter than 12 volt motors, per CC tec. My motors actually have 3 speeds, with med speed being used. I have thought about putting a selector switch on them to varry the speed, but have not. The motors are made in China and they must have had a oil shortage when they went to oiling the bearings, because there was very little oil in them. My galley motor froze up and I was able to get it back to life. I removed all three of mine and oiled them. I had to drill a 1/8 inch hole in the case to put the oil in the felt next to the brass bearing. George Sanders just last week oiled his and was able to get his dash unit back to life with just putting oil on the shaft. I have pictures of how to do the job if you are interested . CC has new units for around , if I remember right $120, for the motor and fan. I know of a source you can get just the motor for around $50.00 . I believe to oil the ones you have is the best bet. Difficulty in removing and oiling them I would say is a 5 out of 10.

I run my front unit on the fast tap, the kitchen and under linen closet in the middle, the bed room on either low or middle depending on the weather and time of day. The coldest we have been in this coach was 17 degrees +/- a few in west Yellow stone, with the Aluminum plastic sandwich insulation in the front window and over the bed and the floor set at 95 deg we didn't need to run the rear heat. front was set on 70 deg. One time when in Tucson and it was in the 30's with the wind blowing all night I pulled in the slides, did it also in Albuquerque in the low 20's with high winds. no problem. It will be interesting to see what happens this winter if we go out after Carlos tuned up our Hydro-hot in Golden. He has his own business now and services Coaches all over central and northern Colo. He used to be one of the lead techs when the factory used to service anything other than new units under warranty. He was a the factory home coming two years ago when I first met him. He doesn't think he is going to Tucson, but maybe if we contact Doug Rutherford, some of our problems could be solved. TWI

I am looking for suggestions on how to get the dash apart to get at the front heat exchanger.
