I will be selling. or trading to the dealer, my 2002 Ford Explorer Toad. It will cost about $400 to $500 to have the base plate and transmission electronic control removed.
I'm trying to determine if the dealer's trade-in offer will increase enough the cover the the cost of removing the base plate before trading.
Your thoughts and experience in trading in a Toad, will be appreciated.

Why not list the unit on the Escapees Discussion Forum? They have a section for RVs, Tows, and Toads For Sale (http://escapees.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/frm/f/161606761 (http://escapees.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/frm/f/161606761)). The cost if FREE and you don't even have to be a member of Escapees to post your ad.
Listed my pickup there while traveling thru Florida and had responses from Florida , Texas and California . Sold it to the guy in Florida since he was closest at the time.

I have a dumb question. At the price of the neutral tow, why take it off? It will cost you as much to take the light off as it would to bu a new one. I am on my third explorer and have never removed the neutral tow. It is only a light plugged in and they use their computer to enable the neutral tow. The whole thing costs 80-100 dollars depending on the dealer. I would just leave it. I believe to remove the base plates you do not have to remove the bumper. I think you can unbolt it and slide them out. It takes more work to install than remove. I took the ones off my 98 in a campground in Tx. A piece of cake. ' Jerry Wessel SOB
