Title: Solar Panel Installer in AZ?

Can anyone recommend someone in Arizona to install solar panels on my Magna. I have panels and could do it myself, but drilling into the roof makes me nervous. Drilling and mounting is really all I need done. I hear that it may be possible to use a special 3M tape instead of screws. Has anyone tried this? I picture panels flying off at 70MPH if tape fails...

What brand, size, and wattage solar panels are you installing? How much do they run? I am looking to get some for my new coach to keep her charged up when I am gone, and to help maintain the batteries when running off of them in the sticks. What brand/size, etc. does anyone else suggest to a novice? Where do I find out about them?

Rich,

AM Solar in Eugene installed our solar panels with tape of some kind. Maybe they would tell you what they use. I am confident that the panels will never fly off.

I already own Helios panels that are years old and no longer available. You will need 100-150 watts to keep charged when you are away.

Rich,

Four years ago AM Solar (Springfield, OR) installed four PV panels using 3M adhesive (VHB double sided tape?) and their "rocker foot" mounts. We've had no problems with this mounting system.

Check out their web site (www.amsolar.com) for some helpful educational material before drilling any holes in your roof.
AM Solar has been at Quartzite, AZ in past winters. You might want to check and see if they will be there this year. Also, AJL Solar (Lake Havasu, AZ? and Quartzite) may also be able to help out.

You will also want to notify your rep for the coach order and make sure it is pre wired for solar and that they mark the roof where the wires are to coke out. The guys in Springfield are edging about "just drilling holes in the roof"
