Happy Turkey Day!!!
I hope somebody is on-line with some assistance.
Decided to take a quick run to Phoenix this morning. Disconnected and ready to go then---Coach would not start---batteries dead (6 month old batteries). Battery booster helped a little, but still would not start. Turned on the generator to see if that would charge the batteries. After a bit, tried to start again. Turned the key and "something" tripped. Killed the generator, the "Total Coach System" panel, etc. We have lights, but that is all. 2 slides are in since we were getting ready to travel, but now no power to put them out or pull the other 2 in.
Any suggestions appreciated.

When I said that we had lights, that is on the inverter. There is no power to even get the electric cord out so that we can plug in to shore power.

Have you accidently tripped the house battery switch next to the entry door?

Check all your circuit breakers. Does the generator have circuit breakers on it also if so check them. Then turn as much stuff off as possible and start generator if it want crank check battery voltage for it and if need be get your jumper cables out and jump the generator. After jumping this generator then put the cables on the other batteries and provide a little extra juice while they are being charged by the generator. I had a switch left on in a bass boat and the battery wouldn't take a charge with a charger because it was so dead but I was able to jump from the trolling battery to the dead battery and put the charger on the trolling battery for a couple of hours then the dead battery was charged enough to take a charge without tripping. Hope this helps and hope it doesn't ruin your Thanksgiving.

I do not have your vintage coach, but first I would try to jump start the generator from my car battery to the generator battery. The generator would give me power after a few minutes to boost my starter batteries to start the coach engine.
If that does not work, then I would look in the chassis fuse box for any unlit fuses indicating they need to be replaced.
I assume that you have tested your starting batteries with a meter to assure that they are dead.
If the starting batteries are dead, I would then look at the two large fuses (on my older coach) between the invertor/charger and the battery compartment. One in the electrical bay and one in the battery compartment.
While in the electrical bay, I would check the breaker switches and fuses located there.
If your start batteries are not dead, but there is no response from the key, then you may have an ignition switch problem that may have a fuse?
That is the first process I would undertake.
Good Luck.

Cannot check the circuit breaker on the generator because we cannot get it out. Cannot get access to generator because electricity is required to get generator out. We have a battery charger on the engine batteries, but I don't think that will solve anything at this time. Gotta find what tripped. Looking for a transfer switch, but cannot find it. All circuit breakers have been checked, of course. That was the first thing, even though they apply to house stuff and this is more than that.

Can you put an adapter on the end of your power cord and run an extension cord to a 15 or 30 amp to the 110V source? That could get your electrical system marginally operational.

Tripping the system is OK, that's how you protected yourself from a fire or explosion.
I would suggest trying this; start at the source the batteries.
Disconnect and inspect the cables to the batteries for the chassis, were they tight, are the cables free and clear of metal grounding contact. check if the water level is above the plates, load test each battery and this is to find which battery might be the problem.
All is OK to this point charge the batteries with an independent charger, separately.
Let us know what you found on the above.

We did manage to get the power cord out enough to plug in an extension cord, but not sure if there was any power coming in or not since the monitoring panel is dead. When Jerry unplugged it, I could see a change in the brightness of the screen on the computer. He is afraid to leave it plugged in, though, since the problem is probably a blown transfer switch. Don't want to do more damage.
Called a mobile tech and he can come over in a couple of hours.
Thanks for all your suggestions.
I will let you know what it turns out to be.

On Thanksgiving Day...... I can see lots of $$$$$ !

I can breathe a big sigh of relief!!! Mike Semple, Mobile tech came---there was a breaker that Jerry did not know about that had tripped--a little red button outside in a bay. So, we now have power to the coach. The next step is to see why the batteries lost their charge. At least it was not a high $$$ transfer switch like we thought.
We have used this mobile tech several times. In case you are ever in an area where Mike Semple is working, he does great work and knows his business. He spends the winter in Indio, CA and summer up north somewhere. We highly recommend him and his work.
We will not go to Phoenix today---maybe tomorrow.
Thanks again for all your suggestions.

Jurhee,
Check that you did not hit the house battery disconnect button.
Also, See what voltage you have on your engine batteries and as far as starting, try your battery boost switch with the gen running. Your house batteries cannot be dead or your generator would not start.

coach.
Mike is awesome! We can attest to that fact, also...caught up with him in Eugene one time and while checking something for us, found that in addition, a major belt was ready to go out on us...You were truly lucky! Glad you got a simple ("Semple?" ) answer to your problem.
Happy Thanksgiving...what's left of it.

Right now, Mike is in Indio, CA at Outdoor Resorts. He will probably be here all winter---at least he was last season. His phone number is (970) 769-1213. He is sharp and knows his business. He is factory authorized on the major coach brands.

I wish I had read these posts a week ago! The day before we had our M&G SBS installed, we were parked in a small RV park in Athens, TX. My wife heard a "pop", and we lost all shore power. We got the inverting message on our display. I checked the breakers (all OK), power at the park electrical box (121V). Tried the generator, but still got "inverting". I called CC tech support (this was Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend), and actually spoke to someone. They said I'd have to go back to Dallas (Buddy Gregg RV) and have it checked, as they thought it was the transfer switch. After driving 100 miles back, it took the tech at Buddy Greggs about 2 minutes to fix it. It was the 120V breaker in the bay where the inverter is. It looks like a red button, and is labeled 120v power. Live and learn!!
