I am regular lurker/sometimes poster at IRV2 the owners forums are just the same as this one. I started there checking out Winnies and Newmars when I was shopping. They have general forums as well, like rv.net. All good places for info. You can see my IRV2.com sticker flying on my ladder right below my FMCA.

IRV2 is a great forum. Though not very active, I have been a member for several years. There are lots of topics discussed. There are also get-togethers all over the country for meeting other RVers. There are many owners groups available for many different brands of RVs that also have a Yahoo site such as we have here.
Just another place to share and gather information.

The IRV2.COM discussions forum is just another place to exchange ideas, opinions, and knowledge. I find the discussion forums at IRV2, RV.NET, and ESCAPEES.COM much easier to use than the Yahoo groups format. You can read these formats soooooo much easier than the groups format. There are search functions that help you find almost any topic in seconds. There is 1000 times more info available quickly on these formats, too. Just my opinion.

I have been a long time user of both IRV2 as well as Yahoo Groups and about a year ago I also tried RVLivin. IRV2 and RVLivin are nearly the same. They are a very open discussion group. However, what they do lack is the ability to organize, upload and save data files, photos, create databases and take a poll. Yes, they do have photo storeage but you are unable to create your own unique folder for organization. You are totally dependent on the IRV2 forum manager.
I find that the format here at Yahoo is, while not the best, is far better suited for a Country Coach focus group. There are many great posts on IRV2 and there is a wealth of knowledge there by many contributors. I often read many of the IRV2 posts that are about the common systems to gain further insite to our complex home on wheels.
While I am not discouraging anyone to use IRV2 as an supplemental source of information, I sincerely hope we do not begin to splinter away from what we have here.

Jim,
Thank you for your comparison between the Yahoo's CCO forum and IRV2.
Some time ago I search around for software for Yahoo! alternatives for better organization of messages. I too found that Yahoo! had some needed features not found in other hosting software:
1. Most did not support mailing of messages posted on the forum to the participants, much less the Daily Digest, which was enhanced this year by Yahoo to group the messages by subject! Most participants in this forum prefer to receive the postings via email.
2. Other forum software do not support submission of postings via email. I believe more than 50% of the posts are done this way, instead of posting via the website. This feature alone limits (read prevents) the categorization of messages, which can only be done when all messages are submitted via a website, not email.
3. The domain would be hosted and paid for by an individual. With
yahoo, if the forum moderator got hit with a Mac Truck, it would be easy for another moderator to step in. No domains to transfer and pay for, nor web hosting to pay for.

Hi All,
With many of the replys via the threads becoming useful to hardly anyone in the group, I prefer to use the envelope icon to respond directly to the person posting the issue. If one used the search and message number tools more often, there would be a seriuos reduction in messages. Almost all issues have been dealt with in the past.

Fred - I see this group as a bunch of like-minded folks sitting around discussing the things they choose about a common topic. In our case(s) Country Coach RVs. Something like sitting around the campfire where everyone joins in with their contributions to the conversations.
Personalities show, arguments ensue, people laugh and have fun, and we tease each other at times. This is the enjoyment of this type of group. Of course we get off track from time to time - all conversations do.
But if we go about our group discussions in a robot fashion and only use the search and post number look-up feature we would certainly lose the community feeling. Can you imagine sitting around the campfire with something to say and the leader of the group tells you to stop talking because someone may have discussed the same topic three years ago? How ridiculous!
If it came to that, the group would die a sudden death. Just my opinion.

If you are reading these thru your email then there is no envelope.
If you are reading the posts on the website, then the envelope symbol is under under the poster's name to the right of the message.
