Title: Sewer smell on outside...Venturi Effect?

We noticed this week, during windy weather, that although we had just dumped our sewer, that there was a distinct sewer smell outside the coach, right around the LR slideout. Is this because the wind caused a "Venturi Effect" and pulled sewer gases out of the sewer vent, or do we have a problem? We noticed it twice this week...once when we had the sewer hooked up, but not open (grey was open) and then this last time when we were not hooked up. Both times there was about a 25 mph wind blowing.
Thanks...

You may have the same problem we had for weeks on end, as ours is also an Intrigue 2001. Finally turned out that the washer/dryer vent drain line had no water in the trap, thus gas from the grey tank was being sucked back up into the coach with the venturii effect. We now make sure the washer/dryer has a cup of water in the line and do not let it all evaporate away.

Hi Ron & Molly, How do you get the water into the trap?

Thanks.

Yes, we've had that problem, too but now know to be careful going up steep hills which is when we got the p-trap water lost..however, this problem is a smell only OUTSIDE the coach..forward by the drivers side in about a 4 foot area...this is the first time in a year that we smelled it, but honestly, we haven't been outside in a 25 mile wind at that particular point of the rv much...so perhaps it's always happened...no smell when no wind. Tanks were clean when it happened.
Are you going to be at the CC RAlly? Jan McNeill
