An important ride height article on pp. 12,13 in the Spring 2008 Country coach Destinations pointed out that just because the HWH Travel indicator is lit green, does not necessarily mean the coach air bags are inflated to their correct height. At least a measurement should be made. The procedure is detailed and would require some discipline in two areas. First, the measurement is performed at some frequent interval. Two, the measurement is exact.
Suspension bag height is covered in the Files section for this yahoo group, titled Ride height measurements.pdf for some coach years. Note that the height provided is exact with no tolerance. The procedure for measuring and adjusting bag height is titled Fred's Updated Ride Height Valve Install Procedure.pdf.
Once the bags are at the right height, a good measurement approach is to measure the height from the inside top of the wheel well fender to the ground being very careful that you choose an angle of sight that is always the same at each tire. The picture in the article does not provide for an accurate measurement as there can be a 2 inch spread in measured results depending on where your line of sight is.
Another approach is to use an ultrasound measuring device. One possibility is the Sonin Laser Targeting Range Finder 10075 ($29.99, no tax or shipping charge from www.opticsplanet.com) which is temperature compensated for accurate measurements.
