Hello

On the brow of my cabover, what appears to be clear coat is peeling and flaking off a 3x6 ft area. The sub surface seems to be gelcoat.

Talked with boat shops to see if they would repair, but no success so far.

Has anyone dealt with this problem successfully? If so, what are the proper steps.

Thanks
Dean

I have the same issue along the top side walls where they wrap over to the top. At the bend, the clearcoat is coming off. It's high enough to not be too noticeable, but I'd like to get it fixed.

We have this problem also....we were told it is due to lack of maintenance...if that is

the case...someone would be waxing our coach every week.....so we are trying to

find something to take care of it...or someone...most likely will be ourselves since

the body shop said he didn't have the scaffoling to put up to do it in one paint swipe..

Since several of us are having this problem, I will suggest we bring it up at CCI

in Kansas. We plan to be there. Do You..? Huie

We will not make Kansas. Enjoyed Eugene. I have tried sanding the bordering clear coat and then buffing out the Gel Coat with polishing compound. The Buffing makes an appearance difference but overnight, the flaking begins again after having sanded to what appears to be firm clear coat. My intent was to apply the clear coat myself. Will continue buffing until flaking stops or will send to a CC paint center for repair.

Boat repair people say they do not recommend Clear Coat over Gel Coat.

Dean,

Not very close to us so little chance we met. I did come across three other people who write on this forum and it is nice to be able to put a face to the name when I read the notes in the future.

BTW We needed to top up with water during the rally. Naturally we were close to the end of a row a long long distance from the water faucet. Thanks to about ten other coach owners we were able to daisy chain a series of hoses and take on water.

In my comments for future rally improvements I suggested a long hose be made available to supplement the honey wagon sewer service.
