Hello,

We recently purchased a pair of Sym 50cc scooter toys and we want to take them with us in our travels. I have not put them on a scale yet, but the dealer said each scooter weighs about 180 lbs. I talked to a local hitch shop about options for something that would attach to our coach hitch and still allow for pulling our little Tracker. Did not get much help except that it would be real expensive.

Does anyone have any suggestions for something that carries both scooters and still lets us tow the car? My wifes suggestion is to sell the car and get a new Tacoma pick up to tow - and haul the scooters in the bed. I'm hoping to satisfy our need (and her) without buying a new rig to tow.

Thanks for your suggestions.

check with Hitch Pro & Tow in Eugene, OR he is one of the best any where. If he can't fix you up no one can.

Bruce, do a search on lifts for motorcycles, they may be altered for two scooters, but this could be a expensive way to go. The pick-up would make better sense, but check out which ones can be towed first, not sure the Tacoma can be towed easily. Regarding your scooters, the name Sym sounds like Chinese made, and could be very difficult for parts & service, especially if your traveling, been there done that. I would recommend a name brand(Honda, Yamaha, etc),just MHO.

The Tacoma is certainly towable 4-wheels down, but you would need to install a Remco driveline disconnect kit. We purchased an 08 Tundra, installed the kit, and have a fabulous setup. The cost would likely be more than a rack system on the back of your coach, but would certainly be a much better installation.

Have a look at www.hydralift-usa.com (http://www.hydralift-usa.com) they make a hydraulic motorcycle lift that will easily carry your two scooters with a wide platform they can supply. I have one of these lifts fitted on the back of my Allure to carry my Harley Electraglide, its easy to use and does the job really well. Rons Hitch 'n' Tow on Prairie Road Eugend fitted mine and made a 1st class job.

Bruce,

I see a Tacoma p/u in your future.
Anyway, what you need to put on the scale is your coach. Depending on your model and length you might not have the option of putting another 400#s on your rear axle and staying under 20k.

I'm near my weight limit now (with average loading) and I would not be able to take the extra weight of the scooters.
