Dear Moderator,
I am fairly new at this forum. How can I prevent having question marks and other symbols appear where I have not entered them? Is it my font? What?

I am not familiar with aol but in Yahoo we must use a "plain text" format - you might check out your aol text format.

Good question Daron. I noticed my post a couple of days ago also had question marks. I am not a computer guru and was wondering the same thing. Thanks for posting your question. Looking forward to a response from a forum member.

Daron,
The question marks scattered in the message are an HTML character called a non-breaking-space ( ).
Are you using the Rich-Text Editor on the web page, or submitting messages to the forum via an email program which is using HTML?
I have seen non-breaking spaces inserted by web based rich text editors (similar to the rich text editor used optionally by Yahoo) if text is editted or corrected as it is typed.
I would guess that you might be using the Yahoo Rich Text Editor. If so, I would suggest switching back to their standard plain text editor.

p.s. the characters were found vby doing a "View Source" of the Forum Web Page containing the message with the question mark.

Specifically, the question marks occur when two spaces are type followed by a backspace in the Yahoo Rich Text Editor. I will type my name as Herb(space)(space)(backspace)Strandberg below. A question mark should appear between by first and last name. Herb Strandberg.
If you want to use the yahoo rich text editor, make sure if you type two spaces, and only want one, that you backspace twice and retype the space.
When this non-breaking-space is displayed by some programs, it gets converted to a question mark.
We will see if what I say is the truth!!!!!!

Well the question mark did not appear on the web version. We will see in the morning if it appears in the daily digest. Then once it appears there, it get encapsulated into replies.
I could see the in the Yahoo rich text editor when "View HTML" is checked.
