Has anyone used Bauer Automotive Truck Service in Chatham NJ? I would be interested in your experience.

Arthur,

I never used Bauer but please let me know how your service experience turns out.

I just recently used RNR Truck Service in Paterson NJ, they are a small operation but are very experienced on diesel engines and specialize in chassis/suspension work. They are well known for doing truck and motorhome alignments. Ask for Rich Jr. if you decide to call them.

Paul,

Bauer appears to be very much like RNR. In business since 1970, they specialize in servicing on the road truck breakdowns, but also have a complete home base shop. I had them do my "yearly" service (oil, filters, lube, etc) for a very reasonable $450 and replace my rear height values for $1000, which I thought expensive due to the 6 hours of diagnostic and labor at $106/hour. I asked the owner how much motorhome work he did. "Not enough", he said, but had no way to make his service known to the motorhome community.
All in all I would go back for maintiance items, but would shop around for more involved services.

Arthur,

I think RNR's labor rate is a bit less expensive; their labor rate was about $85.00 per hour. 6 hours to replace the rear valves is out of line unless they had other problems doing that repair.

Paul,

I agree, but as they say - water under the bridge.
