I think you would be very happy at Disney's Fort Wilderness RV Park. Not cheap, but nice.

Hi,

There is a Thousand Trails (membership) campground on Hwy 27 just North of Hwy 192 (about 7 miles from Disney World). Then, on Hwy 192 near the same Hwy 27 & 192 intersection there's an Encore park.
We've stayed at both parks. Both are good looking, well maintained, clean, have large roomy sites and are used primarily by vacationers.

We have always had good luck at Sherwood Forest, on 192 in Kissimmee.
Huge park. From south entrance of Disney go east on 192, cross under I4 and find Sherwood Forest on the south side a couple of miles along. Good steakhouse right across the street!

$60.00 per day, very small lots and no restaurants within walking distance - we would not go there again. They do have a buffet at $17.00 per person but, if you want meat, it is an extra $7.00 for a 1/4 chicken!

Apparently they also don't know the difference between mammals and poultry!

Sorry Peter, I just couldn't resist this response. GGGG

Paul,

Do you want to park it or camp in it at Disney. The two camp grounds we like the most are Fort Wilderness at Disney or Tropical Palms, which is on 192 about 5 miles from DW. The KOA and Thousand Trails are not that great. If you need more info let me know. We have spent many weeks camping at DW. We just finished a month there in June.

Bill G,

Thanks for the input and we have already booked our stay at Ft. Wilderness which we think we should enjoy. Bill If I may ask we have a 36ft and are the sites large enough for the length and also a single slide??. Have any preference on site numbers..thanks again Bill G...Paul

Paul,

There are sites at DW big enough for any size unit however the trick is getting into the sites. When DW was built they left in lots of trees so turning on some of their roads is difficult. We always tell them that we have a 45 foot when our coach is really only 40 feet. I would advise against arriving after dark. Backing in the dark is difficult with all the trees. If you can't get in the site they assign they are very good at finding you another site so don't worry about site size. You should have no problem with your slide but what you will find is the slide may limit your space on the patio side of the coach. But that's ok because you will not do much sitting at the coach anyway. I think this is one of the best campgrouds in the country. The price may seem high but when you see what you get in the area for $15 less you will love it.

If you are looking for a nice pool with a hot tube go to the Wilderness Lodge. Their facilities are great, it's right next to the cg and no one ever asks if you are staying at the hotel. If you need info on good restaurants let me know. We know some great spots on and off property. The one thing nice about the CG is that the transportation system can take you anywhere in DW without driving your car. And when you go into the parks use the fast pass system whenever you can. We were there for 3 weeks in June and hardly stood in any line more then 15 minute.

Let me know if you need more info.
