Considering installing the Banks Power Pack. Pro & Cons?? The increased HP and Torque seem impressive. Are there drawbacks? Have any of you done it. Are you satisfied with the results.G Wallstrom '03 Allure 30872

I have a 2000 Allure with an 8.3 Cummins @ 330 HP. I have not and would not put a Banks Power Pack on my engine. First consideration is the transmission. My Allison is very close to its rated torque.
The Banks Power Pack would take the engine torque above what the Allison is rated to handle. Second, I have found my engine's performance to be very good the way it is. I can break the speed limit quite easily and it does well in the mountains. Lastly, you might want to consider the cost versus the added performance. Will it give you a return on your investment for the length of time you will own the coach? If money is no object, go for it.

I suggest you consider the cooling system capability as well as the mentioned transmission issues before any added torque is added. The entire engine, transmission and cooling system are developed as a complete system and should be treated as a package when any modifications are added. "For every action here, there is a reaction" and education about the overall performance gains should be balanced with knowledge about how it will all work together in the end. If warranty is not a concern, Cummins can probably be a good souce for added torque/hp gains too.
