We are getting ready to change insurance companies on the MH. I have a quote from Explorer RV and one from RV Alliance. Explorer does something called agreed value replacement and RV Alliance does purchase price. RV Alliance is also a little more expensive. But both are better than using the company we use for our cars.
So I'm looking for feedback from anyone who has used these companies.
Thanks

Linda & Don,
look at both closly because RV Alliance gives the emergency roadside service in their policy most othe ins. co. don't I have a 95 Intrigue which will be replaced at the purchase price on another coach if something happens an agreed price maybe alot less then you have paid for your coach just check them out throughly

Don,
Never used the companies you are looking at, we use Gilbert RV Ins. out of Florida.
One thing I do know is that we always use the price we paid for the coach as the value and not the list price. In that way you pay less for the insurance and still cover the same replacement value. Hopefully no one ever pays the sticker price.

I had a policy with replacement cost coverage till I went to an insurance seminar at CC rally and found out how important it is to have Purchase Price coverage. My company and others will not write purchase price on rigs more than five years old. But RV Alliance will and I went with them and added a million dollar umbrella. Also, the RV Alliance rv policy was developed by the FMCA insurance committe to cover full timers....camp ground losses, etc.

I would be very interested in knowing why it is important to haave Purchase Price coverage. Am I correct in assuming that you mean MSRP vs. the actual purchase price paid?

We have our policy with Mendota, written by Gilbert RV Insurance Agency. We are on our second coach with the same company. We have total replacement cost coverage - if we have a total loss any time during the first five years of the coach it will be replaced with a new coach of the same make/model. After that the coverage reverts to purchase price guarantee - in the case of a total loss they pay you what you declared as the purchase price when you first took out the policy. Many, if not most, companies will sell you replacement cost coverage for the first five years but will then revert to actual cash value or market value at the time of the loss - neither of which will be anywhere near what you paid five plus years ago. They also offer a disappearing deductible which reduces 25% per year of claim free ownership. The trick there is to initially gamble on a higher deductible, IE $2500. This saves a lot on the annual premium and after the fourth year you can have zero deductible at a rate substantially lower than someone who chose a lesser amount as their deductible. Their rates and service are excellent.

Thanks for all the input on Insurance. My State Farm agent told me that Great American was a good company. That is who Explorer uses.
The really nice thing about Explorer is they actually answer their own phones and you get someone knowledgeable in RVs. Down side is on used RV they don't do replacement.
Thanks again for all the input.
