Hi All,
I am the new owner of a 2000 Allure and need some assistance. After a month of ownership I keep finding "new" things. (And I probably will for some time to come!)
I have searched through all the manuals, and I can't find a reference to this switch anywhere. It is a "momentary" toggle switch with a clear plastic handle and is located in the steering bay just below the air dryer and 12 volt air compressor. There is no placard of any kind hinting as to it's function.
Does anyone know what the function of this switch is?
Thanks,
Dave Hills

When I was having a problem with my ABS light and called CC, they had me use that switch and they could determine the problem by the different sequence of blinking lights.

Ree, I note your reference to an ABS light problem. Mine is coming on and staying on until I stop and shut down. Then on startup it stays off. Does this sound like your problem? Ive had it worked on once at Buddy Gegg--Dallas, but it's back.

Dave,
Our 2001 Magna has a switch down there that I believe is labeled ABS which is part of the ABS braking unit. I have never use it so I don't know what it does. It is also a toggle switch.

Hi Folks,
The ABS switch is used to read out the ABS trouble codes.
I have asked CC how it works and have had no response.
I do know that it has 2 readouts depending how long the switch is placed in the On position. The ABS is connected to the Cummins ECM and Allison ECM via the 2 data busses as the engine and transmission are signaled when ABS activates and they have a controlled response. Silverleaf may/does? have a readout.

Sounds the same. Has only happened twice. When I called CC, they talked me through the diagnostics with the switch then said that it had something to do with a wheel and not to worry about it but get it checked when convenient. Catch is, if the light is not on, nobody knows what to look for.

I own an '00 Magna and I noticed that the ABS dash light stayed on all the time. I called the mfg. and they told me to hold that switch for some seconds, release it and tell them the blink sequence, which I did. They told me it sounded like a wheel sensor was disconnected and to have it checked. Sure enough, that was it. jerry in NM.
