Hiker John:

In my opinion I wouldn't take a chance on a unproven CAT transmission. Allison and Cummins are a proven match.

On what do you base the statement that the Cat transmission is "unproven"? Cat has been designing and building transmissions for decades for use in conditions a motor home won't come anywhere close to. Their engineers would be as good as anyones.
From pesonal exerience, if you have a problem with a Cat product they will stand behind their products 100%

Cat, Cummins, Allison, all make excellent products.

The transmissions used in a motorhome/truck environment is different than what CAT has traditionally built. Don't forget the new Rhapsody did not make it to the 2nd East Coast Reunion because the tranny failed en-route.
I don't know the reason for the failure, maybe it was CATs fault, maybe it was something CC failed to install correctly.

That was what, like two years ago or close thereto. Unfair to condemn a Cat transmission because of the Rhapsody. ;-)
