On demand hot water -Aqua Hot 2007 Allure HELP

Hi,

I've been searaching in the past posts & can't find anything re: the problem we are having. We are in Birmingham on way to Florida, the temps outside are 30's & a bit below. Before we left a few days ago from home (our coach is kept plugged in a 30amp at home & we had below freezing temps for quite a long time plus snow). The Hydro Hot was working & the heat part is working, but we can't get hot water.
The switch inside the coach on the panel will light green, but is dim green and then it will go out. It only stays on for maybe a minute. We have the electric switch on also. It also will go dim green, not as bright as it used to be & then it will go out.
We don't get hot water, just lukewarm to cold in a matter of a minute.
We don't have any blinking lights in the bay, coolant, fluid levels were fine when we left home which was 2 days ago, they are still fine.

We've racked our brains & can't figure this out.

Help appreciated.

We will be staying in Bradenton through end of March & on to Naples. We only know of one repair facility in the Bradenton area.
If anyone can help us troubleshoot, it would be appreciated. I'm missing my really hot showers.
PS - we had the whole system rebuilt after we bought it and it's worked fine ever since. We have the system checked each year by Buddy Gregg in Knoxville. This was done April of 2009. All was fine all through 2009 & no problems

Dee we have the same model 2006 470 Allure. You can not have gas heat and hot water at same time. With the electric on the hot water will be some, but it cools fast. Not really enough for a shower. What we do is turn off the gas furnace, or raise the temp. so that the heater is not working, then the water will become hot. You can also run the heat pump selection which is the overhead A/C units. Now you can have heat and water at the same time. Units are loud so we do not use them much.

Really? Are you still up? Obviously I am - now that I think about it, we have never been traveling in real cold temps where the gas heat has been going almost constantly to keep warm in cold temps, so maybe you are right?
We've just taken the instant hot water for granted as we either have air conditioning going or the gas heat, but don't think the gas heat has run as much.
This is what is confusing me, so you say the gas heat has to be off in order to get hot water? We've always been in the MH with temps in the 40's and with instant hot water working, so let me clarify.....
it was just a coincidince that we got plenty of hot water before? when we had gas heat going?

Jim, I have the same Hydro hot and my Unit will stop the heat function when u use the hot water.., I do not have to do anything it just stops until the water reaches a certain temp. , then the heat comes back to normal... usually only a min or so.. I often wondered if this was normal.., I just showered this morn and had to turn on the diesel and I got into the shower immediately and the water was really hot...The heat pumps are not very effective when the temp is below around 40..

yes, ours works that way, the hot water temporarily disables heat, then when done with hot water, heat comes on.
we've looked at all, still no water, now no heat, froze last night. 19 degrees & wouldn't ya know it, we didn't have a backup little electric heater.

Thats not good, not having a small heater, mine blew up earlier and I have not replaced it, heading south may help a little, not much tho, I am in central Fl and it is cold this morning, and we have had many cold nite this year...
Since you mentioned the 19 degree you could have frozen lines not letting water flow properly.. with no heat in the MH line could freeze, but I guess you have water"COLD" water...but still something could be frozen in the hot side...Thing will thaw out as you get farther South....Good luck..

we sure hope that's it, as we left nashville 2 days ago, had heat at home, but never checked hot water, so don't know about that, was 19 in birmingham, with snow, so we stayed an extra night & are just heading out - units yearly service done in April & we had no problems during 2009.
let's hope we can round up a heater from a store in Tallahassee, our next stop, then down to Bradenton.
I'm missing my nice warm house & just had to install a new heating/cooling system at home. What luck!

Does the diesel side of the HydroHot fire? I suspect that it does not.
If not then you may have a failed coil which provides the spark for diesel function. If this is the case then you must turn on the electric side or you risk a frozen HH. If you don't have 30 or 50 amp service you will have to run your generator.
In summary, you should turn on the electric side of the HH. Set the thermostat to heat pump for heating.

sorry for getting back, no wifi - well it's been a heck of a trip so far. we were able to get ahold of Aqua/Hydro Hot this date, a tech will be out this Friday - said they were slammed w/owners w/out heat/water.
We were able to use the heat pump on the 3rd day of travel & had a friend from our destination actually round up an electric heater to help offset.
we had the brains to keep the electric switch on & tech thinks it's a coil. Ugh..that's $500 he said. Let's hope it something else.
Long story short, we purchased this unit in Az from Beaudry's, new & not being familiar w/hydro hot we figured the thing was working, as they supposedly went over everything. well, the thing blew a white smoke cloud so bad, we had to have the whole thing serviced at B. Gregg's in Knox as soon as we hit our state. We've had it serviced annually & april it was serviced & all ok. used coach all year and last 2 months hooked up at home on 30 amp. Even w/below freezing temps and teens, it worked just fine to help keep coach warm, left last week finally for Florida & darn, if the thing stopped dead the 1st night out.
You don't realize how you worship Hydro hot for showers/heat until you don't have it!
