Trailer Camera

I have a 2009 Magna 630 which is equipped with a Kenwood DNX7100 GPS. I pull a 22' car trailer which has a rear camera mounted and is connected to the above GPS.
Whenever the Coach & Trailer is connected, the GPS sees the camera on the trailer when the Park Brake is engaged or when the transmission is selected to Reverse. I understand the manufacture has this as a "safety feature" in its operating system.
I want to disconnect this feature to allow me to view the camera at the rear of the trailer continuously when I am going down the road. This would be particularly helpful when passing another vehicle.
I talked to Kenwood who would not provide information to disable this as it evidently against Federal Code.
I understand that this cut-out feature is controlled by the purple and white wire in the back of the GPS and if you were to cut the wire and ground it, this would disable the cut-off and could view the camera continuously.

Anyone done this or can comment??

When I had my trailer built, I had a rear camera installed on it as well. However, when CC built the coach, I sent them the TV cable to install in the harness during the build. They terminated it in the driver's compartment. I then attached a second monitor to the left of the steering wheel and now I can monitor traffic behind the trailer and the front of the trailer (through the Pioneer) at the same time.
I know this isn't what you are looking for, but you might consider tying the trailer camera feed cable into a separate monitor.

I did the same thing to the backup camera in my coach. I installed a toggle switch which grounds the 'backup' wire and now can turn it on at will. Works fine.

I put a switch on my dash. When the switch is off, the camera operates normally, just like you described. My Pioneer dash unit has a soft button to switch the camera back on, but it is hard to find in traffic.
When I turn the switch on, a relay switches the reverse lead to ground, which turns the camera on full time.
