On board Air

Yahoo Message Number: 69110
I have a new to me 2002 Country Coach Allure that we love so far. You guys/gals have been great so far with all my questions so here goes another.
Is there a place on the coach to use the air from the compressor to air up mattresses or blow up toys for kids? Also, can I air up my Jeep tires using this after offroading, in the jeep not the Allure.

Thanks in advance.

Longball,

Not sure about the allure model but on my 2004 intrigue there is at least three places to screw on a quick disconnect air hose connector. The coach has two independant air tank systems with four or more air tanks connected between them, but they do not hold much air in all the tanks combined so best having the engine running while airing up your tires. My air stays constant at 120 lbs when the engine is running so I can air up my big tires.
My connections are found in the center back of the coach just above the trailer hitch, under the coach near the dump station (not a good place to have a air connector hanging down if hit by and object) and in the front service bay under the drivers seat. I have quick disconnects on the front and rear so easy to move the air hose to each one to get to the tires I want to top off.
I always use the coach to fill my tires but the engine needs to be running to keep air pressure at its max with the compressor running.
There are also extra places to tap into the air tanks but I would not do that since you just increase the risk of having another air leak if you are running more air lines.
I recently installed a onspot automatic tire chain system simular to what emergency vehicles and school busses use in the snow, I tapped directly into one of the rear tanks above the transmission. I now have a very very slow leak that takes one of my two air systems down to 90lbs in 2 weeks and stays there (when engine is not running). I think it is the onspot solenoid valve that is leaking down though, but it could also be the connections and 1 foot hose I added. Never had a leak in the system before. Use to stay at 120lbs for months.
Just be careful in adding fictures to your air system. Many of the contributors to this web site have air leaks that are a real pain to find, If you crawl under the coach you will see red and green plastic air hoses everywhere, follow them to their most extreme point and you will find some bleed valves that can possibly used with a quick disconnect. Do not tap into your air dryer system and stay away from the air brake lines.

Good for jeep not so good for mattress. Not enough volume.

There should be an air outlet in front compartment, driver side

Tom...

You should have compressed air outlets in the bay under the drivers window, and in the engine compartment... Compressed air is furnished by the engine driven air compressor... In my coach, up to 125PSI... Get yourself a 25' air hose and you can air up anything you want including your coach tires...

OK same question for a 201 Intrigue. Are there any air outlets and where are they?

Thanks.

On my 2002 Intrigue, the air outlet is in the propane tank bay--the most forward bay on the passenger side.

I have never seen a air mattress go 143000 miles. If you start the coach engine and run the compressor then you will have all the volume you want.

That mattress sure has been around. I searched the compartment under the driver and the LP compartment and the engine bay and I still can't find an air port. I'll head under the coach tomorrow to see what I can see. Thanks to everyone. Wish me a good nights sleep on my well traveled air mattress tonight. Lol

Thank you,

Some have commented that the air quick disconnects are IN the bay below the driver seat. On my 2002 Intrigue they are not IN the bay but rather are accessed from below on the outside of the forward wall of that bay. You have to get down on the ground and look up and there are three quick disconnects with valves to tap in to.
Someone mentioned that there are also air connect points back in the engine compartment. Can anyone else verify this and provide more specific location.
Along this same thread ... if I needed to tap into the air system for a toad brake system, what is the best place and method to tap in??

Hi Steve, I can only comment on our 01 36' Magna but it has 1 fitting under drivers seat on front wall of the compartment where all the fuses are and 1 just to the right of the engine belt drive pully on our CAT C-10 engine. The rear one is tilted up about 20 deg. and has to be cleaned out before use. Almost acts like a dirt funnel, I finally fixed a cover to keep dirt out so it can be used! Steve, I found the the 3 quick disconnects but now I need to know what size air hose to buy and what fittings. Will this provide enough air to pump up these hummers?? And why are there 3 quick disconnects?

Thanks!

Janie,

On our 2000 Magna 36' there is a quick disconnect in the left side forward bay and on the right side in the engine compartment. I put rubber stool foot protectors on each to keep out the dirt.
