Pilot Card

Yahoo Message Number: 76760
Did anyone else get an offer from Good Sam, to obtain a gas card from Pilot Fuel. Does this appear to be the same card you would get, if not through Good Sam. I mean the same type of discount for fuel. They have a cash price discount and put it in the ad, but really...is there many of use that carry $300 or more with us as we travel down the road, or do you go to an ATM machine and get $300 to $500 out and go to the gas pump?

Just curious...Thanks

Dave,

It's actually a gas card, no cash required. Looks like a very good discount, up to .06 per gallon off the cash price of diesel. That could amount to a .12 discount per gallon total! The down side is they want access to your bank account to do a direct debit transaction to pay the bill. I am still struggling with that thought.
I use their Frequent Fueler card now and really like it. I can use my credit card and still get the cash price minus a .03 discount. You can get this card at any Pilot or Flying J location. Just ask for it.

Barney, Looking at this card, I understand the part about the access to your bank account, but in the ad it says that you can pay the bill via UR bank account. I think many of us pay or bills that way while on the road. "Payments may be made online or through auto-draft/auto-debited payments. They then give a discount based on your "Good Sam Rating"

The part I was really questioning is about the cash price discount. I think this is the "Small Print" that they try and get you use their fuel station instead of someone else's. they push the cash price but as I related to how many of us carry that amount of cash around in your pocket as you drive down the road. Do you pre-plan that tomorrow I need to fill up so go find a bank where you can withdraw $400-$500 for that fill up. Their add shows that using this card, that is associated with Good Sam, pay cash, you can save up to 12 cents per gallon.
The diesel discount is reflected off the cash price: Here's an example

That's a savings of $.12 per gallon off the credit price!
If they would give you that discount and use my "Debit Card" I would be all for it...Is saving $12.00 for 100 gallons worth the hassle of finding a pilot station and having the cash?
