SeGi Windows

I am curious to find out how many of you have had your windows replaced due th the seals creeping; how old was your coach and when were they replaced? CC has contacted Segi on my behalf for 4 windows on my '98 Magna and has been told by Segi that they will not replace my windows. Don't know whether it was because of the number, the age or what but I do know they had a bad batch of windows go through years ago and I'm sure that some of those are on my coach. Any suggestions as to where I might go for my next step.

We had a window replaced on the coach last Oct when the coach was 14 months old. I understand that SEGI warrants their windows for three years. You might be out of luck. If any of mine creep, I'll will look for another mfg and see if they will fit. I think SEGI is a crummy window to start with.

What don't you like about 'em, except for the creeping seals, of course? Ours seal tight, although they do open/close easily.

In compairing them to the dual pane windows installed in our friends bus conversion, I think they are cheap. Considering the price he paid and the price of the SEGI there is a lot of difference. I would much have his windows as he has never had a creeping seal. His are also tinted like the SEGIs. His are four years old and no creeping seals.

I think it's all a matter of opinion and the luck of the draw. Our SeGi windows are great, not one single problem and they are 3 years old with 38k miles. I would buy them again in a heart beat.

They are an OEM supplier and apparently don't sell to the public therefore no public phone numbers.
I have had success getting windows replaced up to three years after purchase through CC. Ask them nice and they take care of it. The way it works is you pay for the replacement windows and that cost and any labor costs are reimbursed through CC after they are installed. Took a couple of months but they did as they promised. Se-Gi did not want the old ones back which is fine with me as returning them is a pain and yet another cost.
While I am disappointed with the Se-Gi failures I am comfortable that CC has been reasonable about it.

CC has never returned my calls on the window matter. Drivers window fogged to the point where I cannot see the mirror in certain conditions.

If you haven't as yet you need to work with Tech support. Leaving a phone message that doesn't specifically mention tech support it probably goes to sales where it will likely be ignored. I did everything via e-mail with my usual tech and the driver's window was the first one replaced. The 3 year limit is a silent warranty as previously mentioned. If you have worked with a particular tech previously contact him/her.
The tech will work it out with Se-Gi and transfer you to parts where you order and pay for it/them. After the window is installed contact the tech again and get the instructions on who to send the receipt(s) to.
It took about 3 months from the time we recevied the go ahead to make the windows through the refund of expenses. Se-Gi will build the window speicifically for your rig. They identify which window is being discussed by numbers starting with number 1 which is the driver's window. Then keep counting back and around the coach.
This was the process up to last spring. The usual caveat is they can change at any time. If you make comments like "I'll never buy another Country Coach" there is no incentive at their end to keep you happy. As Dr Phil says - That dog won't hunt.

Bob, I hope you are generalizing and not reffering to me.

When I call the COUNTRY COACH service office, it is always answerd personaly by one of the finest employees CC has on the payroll.
My requests are then entered into the computer and a service tech who is familiar with the particular problem responds.
Most of the tech's I worked with in the past have since moved on to other pastures in the valley.

I am happy that you are satisfied with the form of service you recieved during your coach's window replacement. I would not be.
My reason for the call to CC was to initiate a repore about the window. I am not adament about it being warrantied. I can pay for it and write it off to operating exspenses.
If I have to, once the part is recieved it only takes an hour or so to replace with help.

Since I am posted in the same thread as someone who would mention that they would never purchase a CC again. That is not the case.

I am considering trading for a Prevost conversion.

Bob, I did not fall off the turnip truck, I drove it.
Dr. Phil did not say that.

I was answering the CC owner who said he had called the company several times about the driver's window in his Magna and had not received a return call to any of his. I was trying to explain how I think the system works - at least how I made it work for me.
Dr. Phil uses "That dog won't hunt" and many other good ol' boy witicisms and I'm sure that specific comment and many others are not unique to him.
I never intentionally "flame" anybody so I apologize if something came across the wrong way.
While it is sometimes tempting to tell a manufacturer what you really think of their product I am more interested in getting my problem addressed and fixed. I lost a few fights over poor products or service when I was much younger and even more vocal than I am now. I finally realized the honey vs vinegar admonition is true. I also discovered why my forehead has the hand-sized flat surface just below the hairline - I fortunately still have one. Anwyay, I am sure the good Lord or the pressures of evolution put it there so you would have a place to slap yourself and say doh!, that was stupid!!

Getting some wiser is the only thing good about advancing age.

We are also having problems with our 2004 Allure windows. Sadly they (3 of them) fogged after the warranty expired. Good luck! Lonny & Diane Livingston

Where is that salesman that says there is no SeGi problem. Maybe he can get the company to give you a policy adjustment. Unfortunately, there is a SeGi problem but getting help is very difficult. We are now up to 5 windows that need replacement. The problem started just after warranty. It would be nice if they would simply sell the various double pane windows so we could get them replaced ourselves at a reasonable cost.

You can get the windows from country coach and install them yourself. It's not difficult. I have done three so far. If you can drive a motor home and you can drive a screw, you can install a window.

tzcrews If yours are like mine, there is a rubber trim strip around the inside of the window. When you remove it you will find a row of screws that hold the inside and the outside pieces of the window together. After you remove the screws just carefully separate the inside trim piece then with someone outside to catch the window, force it out away from the sealing material. The window will be somewhat weighty so be careful.

We plan on going to Sun Coast Designs this winter to repair the windows in our 07 Magna. My concern is that we have wooden valances with powered blinds and lighting around each window. Has anyone had any experience with Sun Coast's repair of these. It appears that you need to remove the valance to get to the top screws. How did they do it? If they removed the valance did it all go well? Thanks

Sun Coast are pros, have done at least thousands of RV dual pane windows by now and I've been monitoring this list since they started doing that work and do not recall a single complaint.
Because they are dedicated to this repair I would trust them over most any RV repair facility you could name (except maybe Bob Lee and the former CC techs).
They don't remove anything they don't need to and the way they reinstall the windows is cleaner and neater looking than the original.
Our repairs are coming up on 3 years. No problems, leaks or complaints except I need three more windows repaired and can't seem to get the time to get over there. I would go nowhere else at this point.
No one can guarantee anything but I can't imagine a better shop. If there is a special tool needed, they should have it.
FWIW I've removed and replaced valances in our Inspire and a previous Intrigue. It isn't complicated or difficult CC just did a good job of hiding the hardware from view.
