New Look of Yahoo Groups

Yahoo Message Number: 80616
Hello Group:

I really like the new Yahoo Forum look. It is light, airy and easy to read on my laptop.
On my Smart Phone? Not so much! The content is so smashed together I can't read it at all. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there an adjustment I need to make on my phone to make it clear?

It depends on your smart phone. I have a Samsung Galaxy Nexis and the tiny print is surprisingly clear and easy to read.
You can torn the phone sideways and it should make the print larger.
You can also spread your fingers across the screen to make things larger.
I am attending a class tomorrow at Staples on how to use a smart phone. The major companies teach them periodically. You might check it out.

Shirley,

I have a Verizon HTC and have tried to read the group on it before, but find it difficult. Especially so if I want to respond to a post. Typing on a smart phone is a little much for my big fingers. So I have decided that there is nothing that important on here that requires my immediate attention that I can't wait until I can read it using my laptop or desktop in the coach or at home. I can see where some would have problems navigating around this board by using a smart phone. I guess some like the challenge. To each his own. To me, this forum is really better suited for the laptop/desktop.

On my PC, the first message comes through properly spaced. All following messages are spaced one word per line.

Are others have this problem? Am I doing something wrong?

Paul,

My Pegasus Mail (i.e., pmail) email client wasn't rendering the new digest format messages correctly. Problem solved by downloading and installing the latest version (v4.63) of pmail and selecting the "Use IERenderer" option.
If your email reader (web browser or email client software) hasn't been updated recently, there may be a newer version that solves the problem. Both Firefox 13.1 and IE 9.0 (32-bit and 64-bit) work for me.

Good luck!

I'm also having the same problem of one word per line after the first message. The email is being downloaded into Microsoft Outlook. Are there only 2 of us having this problem?

Yahoo is aware of the problem of one word per line after the first message. See (copy/paste the whole URL if necessary -- up through Known): http://help.yahoo.com/communities/index?page=forums&topic=679f4462f0374ad181e2a94d6972d4e8&forumname=Known
I use Outlook 2010 on Windows 7, and do not have the problem. No problem with Droid Razr or iPad. I do have minor formatting issues such as message number on the right side instead of left where it belongs.
What version of Outlook are those experiencing the problem using? Also fails (for some people??) with Outlook Express.
I understand that changing the message format in your group profile to TRADITIONAL (from FULLY FEATURED) will solve the problem, but the output is not as nice looking as when FULLY FEATURED is properly working.
Also, my Outlook 2010 displays above the From/To/cc/Subject lines, the Daily Digest email message: "If there are problems with how this message is displayed, click here to view it in a web browser." Browser renders it perfectly.

We are going to Sandpoint Idaho Thursday. Can anyone recommend a campground, and anything special we should not miss while in the little town.

Same one word per line here, lots of finger exercise and slow progress. Jim Veen, '96 Intrigue, 10299.

Sand Point - Great drinking town with a fishing habit. South of Sand Point, and not very far is the abandoned Navy Base with a campground that will accommodate big rigs - might be the Corp of Engineers -this was some time ago though

Dear Yahoo! Groups user,

Herb, thank you for your feedback on the daily digest email redesign that was carried out on June 28th and 29th 2012. We listened to feedback from users like yourself, and made changes to the daily digest design. A revised version will be rolled out soon - do visit our Product blog to see the new design mock-up and for more details on what issue have been addressed : http://www.ygroupsblog.com/blog/ . Please continue to send us your feedback and help us improve your experience with Yahoo! Groups.

Thank you !

Yahoo! Groups product team

--------------- Below is from the blog -------------------
We've made changes to the Daily digest format based on the feedback. This will be rolled out starting July 11th 2012. Pls do review the new design when it is implemented (this is a heads up only ). Here's a summary of feedback and changes being made:

1. The header or dashboard area is much taller due to header design, spacing between lines, bigger font size and reduced width, consequently users need to scroll more to read the summary. Made the digest dashboard area wider and header compressed to make the dashboard accommodate more lines.

2. A subset of users had rendering issues where the message content would be rendered one word at a time. We've fixed the one-word rendering issue ? this was happening with Outlook on older versions of Windows and other mail client OS combinations as well.

3. Some HTML markers were changed which caused issues with screen reader programs used by visually challenged users. We brought back the HTML markers that were there earlier.

A mock-up of the new design ? done with long text that folds ( kind of an extreme case as not all messages would be very long) has been posted. See the revised daily digest mail design ? this will be implemented starting July 11th 2012.
We're eager to listen and fix any other issues that you may have. As in the previous iteration, we would have a feedback link in the daily digest mail, so do let us know what you think.

Hi Stan,

Anywhere around the lake is great.. The Navy Base is a neat place to visit... It's a bit of a drive to Down Town Sandpoint. We also went by the park in town, and as RV Parks Review said - the trains are a factor.
We ended up staying in Hope, and were very happy we did. Close enough to run into Sandpoint when you want, but more 'laid back' and quiet. The big park, Beyond Hope, was closed when we were there about 18 months ago. I think I remember a developer had taken it over, but who knows with the economy if they may have 'developed' or just moved on with the RV Park.
We stayed in the smaller RV Park, and were lucky to nab a space right on the water. We'll go back to that park again, as we really enjoyed our stay. Towards the end of the season, so very little crowd activity.

Very nice staff! Mostly family run...

The area is a game preserve for white tail deer, and they are like rabits everywhere you look. I had a few come by and 'inspect' my slide out tray, to be sure I was packing things properly:)!

If you like boating, the lake is great to get out on too...

Best of luck on your travels, have fun, stay safe, Smitty

I use Windows Live Mail. Originally messages came through one word per line. That issue has disappeared and instead I cannot click on messages and do not receive bottom line info such as "Back to Top"? and "Reply to......."? Who do we call?
