Cummins caps

I just had the pleasure of laying out $1500 for my second fuel accumulator on the Cummins Caps system. The first occurred at about 62000 miles and this one at 90000 miles. The first leaked fuel into the oil and this one just leaked fuel externally. Made a real mess when fuel misted on the toad and the back of the coach and then the diesel exhaust dust stuck to it. I talked to Cummins and they are well aware of the deficiency in the CAPS but are unwilling to do anything about it.
For those not familier with CAPS in means Cummins Fuel Accumulator Pump System as opposed to the Common Rail system. Not unique to Country Coach.

No is the short answer. I believe Cummins stopped using the CAPS on the ISL in late 03 or early 04. They then went to the Common Rail system on the ISL. However, there is a somewhat minor mod for the Common Rail. Call Cummins 800-343-7357, with your engine SN to confirm which system you have and if the ISL 400-2 has your engine had the mod. This is my best info and others may have more knowledge on the subject.

Jim, Those of us who have the CAPS could look inside your engine bay door and tell in a moment;however as not take risk on trying to describe via words the best way is to have your Engine Seriel # handy and call the Cummins HotLine @ 800-343-7357 Monday AM give them this Seriel # and they tell you in a minutes time.

I hope you have Common Rail.
