Power passenger seat

The passenger seat seems to be jammed. The forward and backward motion only moves about one half inch. The motor is trying to move the seat but it is stuck on something. Cannot see anything foreign underneath. Any ideas?

My passenger seat does the same. Never have isolated the problem. When I need it to wrok better (not often), I help it by pulling or pushing by hand while holding the switch.

I had that on the driver side, the PO who was vertically challenged put a stack of washers under the rear bolts to tilt the seat forward, this caused no end of problems as it slightly bent the guides causing them to jam at various points, removing te washers got the guide sorted. So I would look to see what if it is bent or fouled?

Bob - On my bus (see at bottom for info) the passenger side seat has a foot rest. It is possible to lower (or tilt) the seat enough to jam that foot rest (bottom edge) on the floor. Perhaps this is your situation. Also the seat springs can get bent and pushed down into the linear actuator thus jamming it. I've had that seat (P/S) out several times for annoying fixes. The worst one was to correct poorly restrained wiring which led to a short. Wires became tangled in the seat's mechanism which cut into the insulation. The seat electronics is on a DC circuit breaker (heat actuated auto reset type) which gets very hot as it cycles. That breaker is in a plastic box. Also the cotter pin wore through on the main pivot bolt which then proceeded to loosen. Taking out the seat isn't hard but it's heavy and clumsy. It might be a good idea to remove your seat and perform a complete inspection. I needed to make a cover to prevent the seat cushion springs from getting caught in the actuator. If someone had stood up in the cushion this might have bent the springs. Our seats don't have any mfg identification on them (very weird). I think they might be Villa but not sure about that. Good luck effecting repairs.

Found the motor that powers the back and forth motion of the chair. The small motor is located toward the front and has a shaft coming out each side. I noticed that one side turns, the other side does not. Not sure what the fix might be (i.e. replace the motor or replace the frame under the chair). Any suggestions??

Not sure about a 2006, on our 1997 had to replace the drivers seat frame, no service parts available. The good news, the replacement looks much better quality.
