IFS Lubrication

I am going to get my chassis lubed, and I cannot fine a drawing I had that showed which fittings are sealed and should not be lubed. Does anyone know where I can locate it? I have a 2000 Intrigue with IFS.

If you have the Holland Neway IFS you do not lubricate the Knuckle Post Assembly. Neway tech spt 800-2378932.

It has always puzzled me that grease fittings were installed in the portion of the IFS that was sealed and not meant to lubed. I've removed the offending grease zerks and replaced them with pipe plugs.

Anyone have any ideas as to why our coaches came that way?

I asked that question of CC Tech Support sometime way back when they were still making coaches.
It was explained to me that the zerks are where the grease is installed initially even though the joints are sealed and require no greasing. They claimed that the zerks that are left there are supposed to be blind zerks that look like zerks but will not pass grease. The were left to indicate to anyone that is repairing the joint were to fill them back up with grease.
I mentioned at the time that I didn't like that idea as anyone that didn't know they were blind and was trying to unknowingly grease them would assume that they were clogged and replace them with true zerks and proceed to grease them. Of course if you try very hard it will push out the 'O' rings and you now will have leaking seals until you can get them fixed.
Personally I like the idea of replacing them with plugs but it is an interesting problem. I guess the story is true but who knows how many have already been replaced.

Don, According the Holland/Neway service bulletin the Zerks are left there in case of maintenance issue, replacement of parts so that Lubrication can be performed after this correction.

Thanks Don........Sort of convoluted thinking as I see it. Makes more sense to me for them to lube the 'permanently lubricated' portion and then remove the zerks and replace with pipe plugs at the time of the build-up. If later replacement was warranted, do the same thing. That way there are no zerks available in the meantime for the uninformed maintenance tech (or owner) to ruin seals on a part where lube isn't required

That's a different response then they gave us at the 1st east coast reunion. However the result is the same. They said Neway did not want them to remove the zerks. I think they just did not think about it and left them the way they came from Neway. Once you blow out the seal you have to lube regularly just like the rest or spend the money to get them rebuilt. 6 of one/half dozen of the other..........
