Weight Stations

We're leaving for florida in a couple of weeks, our maiden trip.
Last night I wondered, do MH have to stop at Weight Stations? I've never seen MH's in line, but I'd rather be safe than ticketed.

No, I travel throughout Florida and I have never stopped at a weigh station, pretty sure it is only for commercial vehicles.

We took our first trip from Indiana to Tennessee last week and saw signs when approaching the weigh stations that motor coaches are required to enter scales. I assumed this was for units that have a DOT number, like people movers?

On a side note I was amazed the power I had with the Cummins motor. We had no problem on the big hills and easily passed the big trucks whenever needed. Very glad we went with the diesel pusher.

I can't even remember what state I was in, but when I was first running around in my Coach there were signs that said all vehicles over a certain weight and with more than two axles must enter scales. I got chewed out by the state patrol guy at the weigh station and told never to come back in. I haven't ever pulled into one since except a closed one in Oregon to weigh with a full load on.
We have been in New Mexico, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Colorado.

In my 11 years of full timing there was only one state that decided to force RVs to weigh in at check stations. That was south Dakota. It only lasted about six months.
First the decision was made thinking that once one state did it the others would quickly follow. Didn't happen. Second the trucking industry was extremely upset by the increase in lines at the weigh stations waiting for RVers that didn't know what to do or say. Third the noticeable increase in the RVs hence tourism in North Dakota seemed to closely follow the decrease in the same through South Dakota. When I went across South Dakota they were just taking down the RV signs at all of the weigh stations.

I don't think any other state has tried it since.

This week we have been passing back and forth through KY and TN. In one or the other state, the sign before the Weigh Station said 'all motorcoaches stop at scales.' We did not have time to debate the meaning of 'motorcoach' so pulled in, stopped at the scale's red light. After 30 seconds it went green and off we went.
If you've never been to the Kentucky Horse Park and Campground its a must stop/see . . . at least a 2-3 day layover. Our all time favorite!

Vehicles transporting agricultural products and all commercial vehicles with GVW rating of 10,000 lbs. or more must stop.

I think you are okay with a regular drivers license issued in MI, but please confirm yourself. Numerous states have requirements for a Class B non CDL license. MI does not appear to be one.
