What is the proper way to respond to a poster, I always seem to wind up with my answer in the posters post? Dick 96 intrigue 10203

The replies should be in reverse chronological order with the newest at the very top of the message. As you may have observed, if the reply get mixed in at the bottom of the original message, and someone else replies properly, then the chain of answers looks like a shuffled set of replies with no logical order.

So, the newest reply goes at the top.

Also, here are a few other tips to everyone:

1. Restate what you are replying about. Don't say "I agree with your tire recommendations". Be specific so your reply can stand alone -- reader won't need to refer back to other messages in the chain to figure out what tire was recommended.

2. If the chain of replies is getting long, trim off most of the old ones. Eight levels of > > > > > > > > (reply to reply to reply to reply ....) gets a bit long, especially in a DAILY DIGEST.

3. "Thank you Bob" by itself conveys NO additional information to any of our members. Please use a REPLY TO INDIVIDUAL to personally convey the thanks. Or wait until the work is done, and then report the progress, quality of work, and add the thank you for the suggestion that worked best. For vacation recommendations, it may be a few months before you post your vacation experience.

4. Every message should convey useful information (or question) that would be beneficial to more than one member.
