Fridge Solar Panel Camco Vent - Update

Yahoo Message Number: 85614
As part of our 1200 Firdge udpates (Amish cooling unit, extra cooling fans, fire extinquisher, smoke alarm behind fridge) we also added a Camco Solar Panel Roof Vent.
I've been chasing down the cause of a wet storage compartment for a few weeks now. Not positive, but I think it is water leaking down the fridge flue. I took a close look at the Camco Fridge Vent, and found: -The little solar panel is cracked in places, with water underneath, no longer putting out power. About 18 months old.
-The sides of the vent are cut up a bit higher then the front edge, leaving a gap of close to 3/4" between the roof and the side of the vent. (More so on the side next to the roof curve, as the roof starts to recede away.) -The top sides of the vent, have a roll of cutouts, I assume for heat escape.
IMO - this is not one of Camco's better designs or quality product. The Solar Panel looks like junk. And, I'm pretty sure this is where the water is getting into the basement cabinets. Heavy rains with driving winds, let alone just driving in the rain. I feel the side vents being so high and the 'cutout holes' allow water to get in and down the fridge flue.
(I can see were the clean white paint of the Amish Cooling unit, is stained from water dripping down.)
So, I will put the OEM fridge back on, and see if this really does stop the leaks:)!
I liked the concept of adding this extra cooling capacity - but unless they've improved this product - I would skip it.

Best to all,
Smitty

I put on one those Camco solar fridge fans. The solar panel was warping and failing in about 6 months.
