2004 era QD7500 Temp Sensor - finiky? (George was right - it is

Yahoo Message Number: 85699
I was our for a more extensive excercise of the rig yesterday (new belts, and hoses, Final Charge (or Change?)), wanting to make sure no hose clamp adjustments might be needed.
While out I stopped in at Cummins Cal Pacific, and a senor tech (nice dude, and one of more seasoned tech's at this Cummins location) came out to look over the codes with me (I read it as error 33, but figured it would not hurt to have an expert confirm). While looking at it, I noted that the model is the QD8000 as George had said. (My confusion on the QD7500, was off of the first receipt to drop the generator, change belt, flush, thermostat, and new temp sensor - they had it written up as a QD7500).
Until we can drop it out, and do some tests, we can't yet confirm it is the temp sensor (again). But the tech carefully stated that the highest number of repairs they do on this era QD7500/8000 is for the temp sensor, followed by broken fan belts next.
I'll work my way back in with the shop I work with, and really consider doing the A/B switch with two temp sensors. The tech said he had seen this done before, but 'officially' could not recommend it. However, he said that with the qty of failures from the Temp Sensor, a second one would allow emergency usage of the generator from a bad sensor. His last recommendation, was to excercise it more then the hour I run it after half load every 4 to 6 weeks. He said bump it up to two hours, to really get things heated up and moisture baked out.

Best to all,
Smitty
