Possessed Advantium Microwave

Went to the coach this evening (was last in the coach 2 days ago) and it was 83F inside the coach in spite of ambient temps of about 58F. I figured I left the heat on when last working in the coach but I had not. The Advantium was running full bore in convection mode and was radiating heat like crazy. I shut it off and turned off the 120V breaker to it.
Has anyone had a similar incident? I am at a loss to explain how it could start a cycle on its own.

Hi Gary,

This is a new one on us, even though we have an Advantium at home and in the coach. If I was to guess there was either some kind of power surge. But one of the cautions we had with our paperwork on the 220v Advantium at home was to make sure that we lock the control panel (hold the clear button for a few seconds until the screen says locked - do again to unlock) If you do not do this it is possible to set the controls up to do all sorts of things including setting a time to preheat the oven indefinitely,

Marta, thanks for the response. I've recently had some service done on the coach so the power was off. I had not reset the clock on the Advantium until 2 days ago. Perhaps there was a power spike or other electrical event that triggered a preheat. We've not become completely familiar with all the functions of this oven so I will do the lock as you suggested.

Gary - We've got the Advantium 120 oven. Never had this problem although it's a scary thought and clearly a safety issue. I've had the oven apart several times to change the interior bulb. My Advantium adventure is documented here:

Dirt, dust and grease blowing over the electronics which is next to impossible to keep clean. That oven is an embedded processor application which I'd guess could get spooked by power spikes/interruptions. I've seen the LCD display go bonkers when inverter power kicks in. But never had the oven come on. The processor controls the oven's cycle which is fed data indirectly through the knob and buttons. If the processor got spooked and the software has a power up glitch I could see it coming on by itself. Might not be a bad idea to contact GE about this. That assumes someone picks up the phone there and/or responds to emails. Thanks for the tip off. Yet another thing to keep tabs on. Good luck.
