Dash A/C problem in a 1995 Intrigue

The A/C in the dash of our Intrigue quits spontaneously, after it's been in use for awhile, and the circuit breaker that feeds it gets very hot to the touch. We were advised by an RV tech that the blower motor in the unit needs replacing.

The unit was manufactured by Frigi-Cool/RVAC, a company that appears to now be out of business. Does anyone have any experience that might guide us in finding a replacement?

I just went through a similar issue with my Dash AC. After pulling the unit because of noisy blowers the tech informed me that the motors needed to be replaced. Unfortunately new motors could not be found. What we did was take the old motors to an electrical shop that rebuilt them. They are as good as new and the Dash AC is working great. Of course, make sure the unit is fully charged as well. If it's low on Freon you could have similar symptoms.

This is shaping up to be a significant challenge: after working to disassemble the unit in place, I'm now realizing that the whole unit needs to be removed from the dash area in order to work on it. Wish me luck!

Yes, that's correct. There are two motors in my unit. And they are both on the back side. They can not be accessed without removing the entire unit. You'll also find that one motor turns clockwise and the other counterclockwise.

We have an issue w/ the dash A/C unit working fine @ the 2 vents on the driver side, but blows hot air on my side (even w/ my individual setting on cold). So I just keep my vents closed..... Mostly not a problem (because I don't require near as much cold as hubby), but it really should be fixed. Any suggestions??????

I had the same problem with my 2005 Allure. Roll out the generator and there are two valves on the fire wall with heater hoses connected one on each side with the heat shut off feel the hoses on each side of the valves the hose on one side of the valve should be cool. On the passenger side the hoses on both sides of the valve were hot so the valve was not shutting off the hot water. I replaced the valve and fixed the problem. I took the valve apart a found a loose screw inside so the valve would not turn off the water. I think I could have tightened the screw and not had to replace the valve

I have a 2000 Affinity and it might be a little different than yours but it should be fundamentally the same. All of the air control doors are operated with vacuum. If one of the hoses has came off or if you developed a leak in a hose or diaphram or control valve ect.... it could be causing your vacuum pump to run excessively. It could possibly be causing warm air to blow across you're A/C evaporator causing a higher head pressure on you compressor than it should be. You might not have the defroster working as it should for your windshield as it uses the a/c evaporator to dehumidify the air for the defroster.
I would fix it or get it fixed. It could be a very easy fix, something as easy as a vacuum hose being disconnected. I took mine to a shop to get the passenger fans replaced because I didn't have the time to do it myself and a month later went to check on it. They took it apart and the fan manufacturer had gone out of business so it took them a while to find the fan motor. The guy that took it apart either didn't work there any longer or something but they could not figure out the vacuum routing. Thankfully I had taken my cell phone out and took a bunch of pictures before they took it apart. It's always a good idea to take pictures first. Good luck.

I suspect that the temperature control valve has failed and is letting hot water into the heater box when you are set to cold. I had this issue on the Allure that I owned and fixed it by clamping off the heater hoses in the generator compartment. The hose is clamped so that hot water cannot get into the heat exchanger. I did this each summer and rmoved the clamps for winter.
