Albuquerque

It turns out that I'm going to be stranded in Albuquerque (my wife is flying to California for her 50th high school reunion) for a week around the balloon festival in early October. We managed a reservation at the KOA where we stayed several years ago when we attended the festival. But, I'm wondering if the collective wisdom of this group knows of any better parks (though the KOA wasn't bad) in the area. I know a reservation might be difficult, but since we already have one at the KOA, we can at least call around.
I'd appreciate your thoughts. I need to have decent wi-fi capability and, of course, a clear view for the satellite. Many thanks in advance.
Also needs to be dog friendly, since I'm returning from a dog show in Gettysburg, Pa.! (just one dog)

Glen, For half the price of the KOA try Coronado Village MH Park. They have dedicated about a dozen sites for RV's all in one area. It is not plush (neither is KOA) but it is quiet and convenient to I-25 and shopping. Another option is the Isleta Lakes RV Park south of town. Gravel sites, quiet except for the ocassional arrival or departure of the local rail system. Nearly half the price of KOA. I don't use their Wi-fi so don't know about that but satellite reception is good. We have ocassion to be in Albuquerque frequently (used to live there) and find the fees at KOA outrageous. You might try American RV Park, West of town at 13500 Central Ave. SW. phone (800)282-8885 or locally at (505)831-3545. We have stayed there a couple of times and like it very much. Better that the KOA, although the KOA is quite large and East of town.

Dave, Another option may be the Coronado Campground run by the City of Bernalillo. Just off US550 and near I-25, no frills and 10 minutes from the field. Hope this helps....Skip 2002 Intrigue #11329

The KOA in Bernaillo has terrific Wi Fi. Craig the owner is good guy. Don't know rates during Balloon week.

Rates at American RV are about $75 a day. Strict no refund period.

Coronado, in my opinion, is for permanent stay folks. Didn't stay there, looked like a place not to stay.

Thanks all for the suggestions. All of the other possibilities are full for balloon week (have to talk to my wife about when they schedule reunions that she just "has"? to go to). And, all of them jack up their prices in honor of balloon week and their bottom line. Couldn't find anything less than the $75 I got from the downtown KOA. And, Coronado looked pretty spartan, especially with a coated dog in tow.

So, I guess I'll be batching it at Downtown KOA!
