I am in the need for a new tow bar ----- does anyone have some sugge

We have a 2005 Inspire .  On of Our Blue Ox tow bar collapsed and cared the tow far to slam into the motor home. I would like to get a new Tow bar  or can they be repaired ? What wt capacity should I consider ?

I have always preferred Roadmaster,  liking the connection pins between the tow plate and the bar.  The  the Blackhawk model has the highest weight rating.  Other models start at 6500 lbs and work down.  I prefer the models with the tension release handles as opposed to the locking buttons that some times require a big screw driver or small pry-bar when the system has been torqued when parking on an uneven  downhill grade to release.  Sometimes,  it easier to disconnect by getting in the car, placing it in reverse,  stretching the system.  I try to attend a FMCA rally every 3 years so Roadmaster can lube and inspect my tow bar.  Last time when the tow bar was 3 years old they totally rebuilt it  replacing the universal joint  at N/C.  TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731

I also have a 2005 Inspire, I have towed my Explorer with the ReadyBrute/ReadyBrake tow bar system for the last four years

without any problems, It's a 10,000 tow bar system.

I've got a Roadmaster Sterling and like it. However, If I ever needed to replace it I would take a serious look at the Demco bars. They store by just swinging side ways, not the lift and swivel like the Roadmaster and Blue Ox bars. Just seems simpler to me.

I looked at the Demco bars with the over under design and the first thing strikes me is if there is an uneven pull on one bar or the other that puts a twisting torque on the receiver of the coach.  So as the  profile of the road changes the twisting created by the over under design is transferred to the coach.  Its bad enough with up and down and back and forth movement but at least the Roadmaster and Blue OX take care of the twisting with the universal joint the Demco doesn't seem to have.  TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731

Thanks for answering my concerns  but if the car veers to the right and pulls on the right bar that twists the assembly. But,  its good to know they are attempting a different solution than the universal joint used by the two manufacturers.  I'll stick with the universal joint, though they can fail, too.  TWI 2004 intrigue 11731
