Water Pump and fill

We are at a RV park and we are trying to use up the water in the storage tank so we can get fresh water. The pump seems to come on and run for about 2-3 sec every 35 sec even when not using any faucets. I can't see any leaks and nothing is wet under the coach. .??

The second issue we have is when I hook up to city water it fills the fresh water tank even with the ball valve closed. Very slowly but it will continue to fill and the water will eventually start to come out the vent or the free fill water supply opening.

Any ideas on what to look for?

There is a one way check valve at the pump to keep pressure up and keep the water out of tank.

On my coach you must throw the switch to fill the tank and throw it again to stop it from filling. Maybe this switch needs to be thrown again. If I leave my water pump on it leaks down enough over time to cause the pump to come on again to fill the line Just turn off the water switch when not needed Barrie Boas 94 Concept 5111

Your loosing pressure somewhere, hence the pump turns on.  The problem could be internal to the pump, if so, I believe that there are rebuild kits available.

The ball valve may have a piece of crud in it, holding the valve open. I've had this problem and correct it by have city water on and exercising the valve to dislodge the crud.

You didn't mention your year or model but the fact that you have both of these problems indicates that your fill valve is leaking.
 The first time this happened we replaced it with the standard plastic valve. It lasted about a year and then started leaking again. Don' t even bother with the leaking valve, just cut into the line and insert a brass ball valve. It will last much longer. If you leave the old valve in place be sure that you leave it in the open position.
