Hazy Gauge lenses

Yahoo Message Number: 102714
Hi Folks,

I've never seen this particular issue addresssed here.
All of my dashboard gauges, with the exception of the speedo, have acquired a milky haze on the inside of all the lens covers.
Has anyone ever taken the lenses off for cleaning? If so, how? They don't seem to be screwed on. Do the gauges need to be removed? Dash panel pulled?

Unfortunately the gauges cannot be taken apart easily, if at all. They use  a crimped bezel. You will probably have to buy new gauges.

That's probably not in the cards. They're not unreadable, just starting to look a little crummy. Thanks anyway

Hi Dave,

A speedometer repair shop will have the means to open, clean and re-install the covers. Just a thought.

Thanks Barney..............I guess if this can't be a do-it-yourself project, I'll just put up with it.?

Hi Dave

You may give this a try. I do not drive at night and therefore never turn on my headlights. One dim day I turned on my lights or about 4 hrs which also turns on the dash lights. My fogged lens cleared up due to the moisture under the lens evaporated due to the dash lights. It worked for me.

Jack,

It's not condensation. it's just some sort of milky looking dry haze. Head doesn't obscure the view of the gauges, just bugs me.

Had the same problem with 1 of the gauges on my 06 Allure. I contacted the manufacturer and sent them the gauge which they repaired free of charge.
You might try contacting the manufacturer of your gauges.
