Can you makes it yes. Should you do it is a different story.

Firetrucks drive it so you can make it.
Much more enjoyable on motorcycle or in sports car.

If you go during summer you will need to pulloff often to let traffic pass, CA law 5 or more vehicles behind you have to pull off and let them pass.

Short runs on 49 can't be avoided to get some places and some sections are ni:e wide sweeping turns.

Pretty drive, 2 lane, good amount of traffic this time of year. It will be slow and worth it.

Should keep going, the drive over to Jackson and sutter creek are the best part of 49. I grew up there, drive our 40' CC towing all the time. Wine region in plymouth is world class...

What Mike said. We go to Plymouth via 49 for part of the way on our return home from the desert in the spring. Great wine and food.

very nice foothills drive.......definitely watch for the " marked "  pullouts to let traffic pass.  You're not required to pull out into a wide area unless it is marked.......as in signage that indicates "pullout 1/4 mile ahead"......I've seen people doing some wild and crazy stuff getting in and out of the traffic lanes.......of course, the other end of the spectrum are the brain dead types who won't pull over for anyone.  We just had our first 100 degree day yesterday, so you might want to pull over just to let the beast cool down, tooCheck out this link for bus routes throughout California45' Bus & Motorhome Map          45' Bus & Motorhome Map  Department of Transportation        Jack370isl03 cascade allure 30832
